I start with a little gas twinge in my chest area. Then I convince myself that it is my heart and start sweating profusely from the adrenaline rush. My left arm starts to hurt because I clench my jaw which tightens the muscles in my neck - shoulders - arm. I take my pulse and it is a little fast from the adrenaline but is strong and healthy. I go look in the mirror and my color is fine. If this is what you are experiencing it is just anxiety.
I have also had the misfortune of witnessing a heart attack. Trust me you would know, I have never seen anyone in that kind of pain in my life!
Love and Light

Like many of you I have been dealing with chest pains for about 2 months now. I woke up in the middle of the night with crushing pain in my chest. After an hour I decided I should go to the er. I had ekg, blood work, and enzyne tests done and everything was fine. I was sent home with a diognosis of GERD. The pain continued so I went to a gastro and had an edostropy done. This revieled I have gastritis and GERD. I am taking zagarid for 2 weeks but it still comes and goes. I am a 38 year old male, 6', 167 lbs, I work out regular and run 3 - 4 miles. My chest doesn't hurt when I excersise. My blood presure is 115/72 and my heart beats very low, at about 50 beats a minute. I do find when I am off to work, which is very stressful, my chest starts hurting and when I rub the pain areas I burp most of the time. But the pain does not go away. I continue to worry its undetected heart problems and this in turn makes me more anxious. I had an excersise stress test done and it came out normal as well. This is very frustrating and it is nice to see that unfortuanitaly many of us are suffering from the same ailment.

:? Hello everyone.. i was sooo glad to find this message board. i just spent the other night in the er for the millionth time over the past few years.. i am 38 and recently a little overweight.. but the worst thing is that i have had extremely high cholesterol since i was 18.. at my worst point my cholesterol was 500.. right now it is about 388. i have been on medicine for it since i was 18 but nothing seems to help. this is why i get so scared when it feels like an elephant is sitting on my chest. i have been numerous times to the doctor and emergency room to no avail.. there was only one time when i was kept overnight, but they attributed it to food poisoning. i was very happy to find other people with the same problem as i have. not that i would wish these feelings on anyone, but sometimes i feel like a hyprocondriac. my husband does not want me to take chances with my heart since my cholesterol is so high. does anyone else on here have high cholesterol as well???? i do believe mine have been gas bubbles most of the time, but i am in constant fear of it being the one time that i am wrong and its my heart.. i can't take pills for anxiety because i am a recovering pain pill addict, so those are off limits to me. does anyone have any ideas to help with the gas bubbles.. i can't pin it down to a certain food or drink. thank you soo much everyone

kim

Just adding a link from a recent thread on heart worries (since chest pain is so automatically linked with heart attacks). I have gone through these worries and still occasionally do.

Hi Kimteehee you probably have a genetic cholesterol disorder like me. My father had a heart attack and died at 39 and my brother and I had our levels tested and mine came out high. Mine has been at your levels, even 550 during pregnancy. I changed my entire diet and it has helped.

I became a vegetarian 9 years ago, but even when I would eat dairy it is high (in the 300's like yours), so I have to be pretty careful.

Right now I follow Dr. John McDougall's diet for the most part. Which a lot of people follow for weight reduction and reversal of many diseases as well. He has a discussion forum here: http://drmcdougall.com/index.html

You really can't fool around with this disorder. I would not follow any kind of "standard" cholesterol-lowering diet for this (like when people tell me to eat coconut oil, almonds and take fish oil and eat fish - just makes it worse), because mine isn't dietary, my DH and I used to eat the same yet mine was 200 points higher. Same with my brother growing up. So unfortunately we have to be very careful with what we put in our bodies, but fortunately we feel so amazing on a clean diet, we wonder why the rest of society chooses to eat the way they do.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I'm going to PM you a copy of this to make sure you get this too.
Shif.

This is all new to me I have been diagnoised with high blood pressure and for over 5 years which has been treated with medication. Recently it was extremely high and as a result of that I went to the e.r for treatment. Thats when my "trouble" started.......this began a series of e.r visits sometimes 2 x's a week for issues alternating from blood pressure being high to having chest pains. I was so very afraid when these would happen thinking that I was dying. Each time they did all of the necessary tests and a couple of times they even kept me over night. only to say all is fine. This did information did not ease my mind I lost approx 15 pounds because I was afraid to eat any foods other than fruit and veggies because I was afraid of sodium levels and cholestrol. I have been thinking there is some undiagnosied illness.

I have found my home...lol....I am the chest pain King! About two years ago I started getting chest pains. Had the whole stress test and a million other tests done and finally my doctor asked about reflux. I said oh yeah I have had that for years Listen as I recited the alphabet in burps to him..Honestly though I have and come to find out I not only have GERDS but I also have Barrets Esophogous talk about Panic attack when they told me B A R R E T S ...it still rings in my ear and the worst part was that I was in twilight(half sedated from the G I procedure) when I overheard the doctor talking. My wife told me(because you can't really remeber much) as soon as I heard the doctors say it looked liked Barrets Esophogus she said that I went from looking lathargic to almost immediately trying to get up and start questiong the doctor.. I do remeber saying to the nurse when she said calm down. Saying "Calm down It's Barret's Esophogus this is bad I'm to young What do you mean calm down" Then that's about all I remember. Anyways yup that's what it is most likely acid reflux....Come to find out that mine was so severe due to a hiatel hernia , and smoking wasn't helping either. I am on Nexium 2 a day and may have to have surgery to repair the hernia. In all honesty I hope they hold off tiil I'm done with this program , because I think that my sterss and anxiety are major contributors....
