post partum,anxiety,horomones????
When I had a miscarriage at age 20 I got panic attacks for a year after. I had no more pregnancies after that for 12 years and then had my son. When he was 5 weeks old I got it again, only it was 10 times worse the second time around. I tried hormones and antidepressants but they made me worse. What worked for me was the program. It helped me realize that even though having a baby is a wonderful thing, it is change in our lives, and change seems to always trigger anxiety for those of us who have this disorder. I hope the pill helps you. But I agree that reviewing the program is a good idea, and getting out of the house with baby and go for a walk. Exercise helps your body to regulate its hormones.
I also have a five month old, and was off this site almost my entire pregnancy. Back again since anxiety is high after pregnancy, OCD symptoms and also had mirena placement (removed after 2 weeks from side effects). Have only been conversing on the board and journaling for a week. Decided to restart program last night. Glad to see I have some company.
I had the Mirena for not quite 2 weeks. At first I felt great and thought wow, this will really be easy. Then I started to get some really bad mood swings, anger totally uncharacteristic of me. I tried Xanax to calm down, accupuncture and yoga. All with no relief. I also had really bad aches all over my body, but especially bad headaches.
My doctor agreed it was the Mirena and removed it. He said some people love it while others have bad side effects, and I was one of them.
The body aches and headache were gone in about 48 hours. I still seem to have the anger with PMS but less each time I have a cycle.
Not sure if this helps. The Mirena releases progestorone, so the headaches are common. I just could not take the overall body aches and was upset about being angry all the time.
I also had problems before and slightly during pregnancy (bad depression). Do you think the Lexapro has helped you? I'm so scared to take anything, and I have a Zoloft rx at home.

I haven't had bad headaches, unless they are sinus related..that sucks. My sinus' are terrible honestly!
I have had cramping and spotting on and off, but haven't done either for the past 3 days...I know they say you can have that for up to 3 months, so I was trying to give it until 12 weeks. I hope it works for me, if not, I'm not using anything!
Lexapro does help me. I had PPD after my first son and didn't realize it, so I felt it coming on this time. I have horrible anxiety though, So, it doesn't hurt to have help with that also. I just hope I don't have to take it forever.

I had a baby 23 months ago and have been suffering ever since. I just though THIS WEEK that it might be the anxiety again. (I know...) I went through the program in 2006 with great success and had no issues until my newest baby was born. I am also on Mirena and I am disturbed to hear that it could be part of the problem....I am really that the program reminds me of the coping skills and I am able to wander through...I am self sabatoging myself at work, avoiding tasks and just spiraling.....I wake up everynight to panic attacks....
