I'm not a veteran but I just wanted to tell you that I can relate. I was talking to my therapist about this the other week. I should be happy, I have every reason to be: I'm engaged to a wonderful man, don't have to worry about money or a place to live or having food whenever I need it, am getting straight As in school, am moving in a few months... but I still don't feel as happy as I think I should most of the time. I've been worrying a lot recently. I think a lot of time people who have a history of anxiety/depression aren't used to things being okay and aren't used to the feeling of happiness. It's like things are never good enough, something has to be wrong. Are you doing the program right now?

Hi pinky and T,

I think the short answer is probably the medication(s) you are taking.

This is a common side effect for sure with people taking paxil and zoloft. These meds rob you of you personality, and emotional reactions. That's part of the trade off you have to deal with. You're there, dull and not feeling anything. I am no doctor, but I have seen so many other posts here regarding this same complaint.

I encourage both of you to work with your doctors to see if there is some suggestion they have.

Each person's body chemistry is different, not to mention, other medications or supplements you may or not be taking. When it comes to reaction(s) or medication's effectiveness, everyone is different.

Even if you do take a poll here and find a few people having the same thing going on; these unscientific polls really mean nothing.

I hope this is helpful. Good night.

Gman,
I actually weaned off of medication in November, so I'm med-free! I think part of it might be my hormones balancing out after being on medication for almost seven years. I think working with the program will really help.

Hi Pinkee, and T,

I am so happy to read on this thread that you have weened off the meds and are so far along in the program. That's great. I thought I read a thread that you were relating your experience with meds, but I checked and saw that you (pinkee) weened over a period of a year after being on 3-4 years. I bet that if they did a test on your hair, it would show the chemicals that are in your system include the Klonopin that you took for nearly 3-4 years.

I am so glad that for both of you and applaud the fact that you are both off the meds, but these drugs do linger in you system for a long time, no matter what others may say about it. You may or may not continue to experience that dull feelings that you experience.

Sheilo, you say that you are fine with your dose. That was my whole point, it really is pointless to conduct these polls, outside of finding a few people that may be going through similar things, they don't really prove anything about the effects everyone or most can expect. It is all subjective to each person's physical and chemical make up, diets, and many other variables.

I wish that everyone never even started on any of these drugs, because they ultimately become crutches and sometimes excuses for some to continue in their conduct good or bad.

Just look at the thousands of posts here about the thousands of people concerned and negative feelings and outcomes that thousands have with these medications as compared to the handfuls of good or successful experiences or outcomes. I know it is not a scientific poll, but it is clearly enough to let me know, that I want no part of it.

Again, I am very happy for both Pinkee and T. Thank God that you are free of the meds and hopefully have found a good natural lifestyle change that helps you.

What astounds me, as I scan thousands of topics and discussions, is how little interest there seems to be in natural alternative forms that may lead to healing. All I can do is see the topics, their respective reviews and replies and shake my head. I wonder what that all really means, if anything at all.

I will pray, as much as I can, for every person here that is struggling with all these disorders. I pray that all here someday come to see that the answer lays within them and not in the bottle of drugs that are dispensed, in what appears to me, so indiscriminate a manner, leaving them holding a bag of who knows what? More anxiety, more pain, no pain, thoughts of suicide, or acting out in anger.

It causes me a great deal of anxiety, sends my blood pressure through the roof, as I read so many of these posts, and nearly breaks my heart.

Pinkee, since you are nearly finished going through the program, I hope the program has helped you on your path to recovery. Please start a new thread and tell us of all about the little successes and the joy that is and will be back in your life.>:D<

I'll say no more about this, I think I've said too much as it is.
