Living with emetophobia?
I personally have not experienced this fear to the point where I panic about it but I have had it a few times when I was pregnant and on public transportation and got a little nervous. The way I thought about it is that throwing up is a natural bodily function, and although it shouldn't happen regularly I am sure that almost everyone in their life time at some point or another is going to throw up! You can't worry about it and I think that this fear relates to fearing what others will think if you do throw up. The program can definately help you with this. Tell yourself even if you do throw up NOTHING is going to happen to you! You would have a mess to clean up but you will be okay!
Just try to relax and accept that it is okay to throw up, and chances are you won't anyways. If you worry about it and it never happens all you are doing is wasting precious time that god has given you. THAT IS TRUE WITH ALL OF US WITH ANXIETY! Just remember that FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real! I hope this helps a little! Jacquelyne

Hello Felicity11-
I do not have this particular fear, but it is like many others. What would be so bad about throwing up? It's not pleasant. That I know for a fact. But, it does serve a purpose and it is self-limiting. And if you do throw up, others would help you and be concerned for you, knowing that you weren't feeling well. That is the judgement they would make. Not anything else.
A friend from this site told me of a book that is helpful for anxiety and talks about your fear. It is called "Freedom from Fear" by Dr. Howard Leibgold. The author had this fear and he talks about ways that we can talk back to that Icky voice that tells us "what if?" and limits our life.
I hope you feel better soon. You are NOT alone in this fear and you can conquer it.

I can relate to this fear. Mine is a little different but some overlapping characteristics. Mine all started after I had food poisioning very bad several years back...and I was extremely sick during pregnancy....I fear eating out in resteraunts do to not having control over how things are cooked etc...and then getting sick. I also have had the fear of going far away in fear of getting sick and not being near home. This has effected my life at times greatly. So, many of our fears overlap although they may sound different. For me, I think its a fear of loss of control and pain. This program helps greatly with those general issues. I appreciate your post and hope that you find some peace within this program and website.
