I have a question for anyone on the forums that might have the Mirena IUD. I have had mine since July 08 and I notice that sometimes my anxiety gets REAL bad and I get REAL angry and frustrated about once a month.(or so I think) I have never actually wrote down when I am feeling that way to know if it is monthly or not. But I really don't even feel like myself because I feel mean and I even get mad at my boss when she asks me to do something! Lol. But if anyone has the IUD please let me know how it makes you feel! Much appreciation. Jacquelyne

I just had mine removed last Monday. What a ride! I have a 4 month old, and my ob suggested it. He was fully aware of my history of OCD, anxiety and depression and recommended it. Well, I had it placed and a few days later I wanted to swing at anything and anyone. Within a week, I did get my period. But I had constant headaches, body aches and I was so angry. Tried yoga, accupuncture and Xanax with no relief. Had it removed and felt great ever since. Back to my old self, and loving it. Not sure what I'll do now for BC, but getting along with my family comes first. My doc stated that some people have this reaction, and after searching Mirena side effects on line, boy did I find a lot of company. Thousands of women out there with the same side effects. Talk with your doctor, it might help to discuss it. Mine basically stated it was his fault to recommend it to me with my history. I'm just to sensitive to meds, I guess. I hope this helps. Good luck

I was on the depo and that was horrible!!! I had my first panic attack after the injection. After doing my owm research I learned I was not the only one out there by far!! I am not boycotting birth control. LOL It messes with my hormone levels too much. I also have not ovulated in over a year due to the 1 injection. Well I have learned now that it can cause infertility. Hmmm Really wish they would list these side effects before you take it. Well thanks for the vent!
How long have you been off it? Is it making you feel better being off it. You might want to go get your hormone levels checked.

I never Knew Other peoples symptoms would make me happy! What I mean is I also had Mirena, the IUC, and have had it for over 2 months, I have tension headaches, weird shocks in my head, felt in my pinkies, ankles etc. Also bubble pain in my head, numbness and tingling in my tougue. Nervousness, emotional, crying, constant spotting. Also difficulty breathing, like a roof, turned out to be muscle tension. My anxiety is amped up. I called my drs, nurse she told me there was very little hormone in it, and I shouldn't be experianceing those symtoms and there was a 3 month adjustment time, "deal with it." I DON"T THINK SO ! What this nurse doesn't know, is that it's even minor hormone imbalance is felt severly for people with anxiety and depression, so of course we'll be effected. Just b/c we're the small percentage of people that have different side effects doesn't mean were alone, we're just a minority. I"m going to make my ob/gyn aware of these side effects so this company can be notified. So I'm having the mirena taken out tomorrow. I'll keep everyone posted. =) I'm hopeful to go back to my old self. I thank everyone for taking the time to post your experiance, you help numerous people by your courage! We're all going to be okay!
