bad panic attack when i go to sleep
sleeping pills are NOT the answer. If you want, talk to your doctor about taking a tiny dose of Trazadone. This is a very old anti-depressant and they use it for the elderly. A normal dose for them would be THOUSANDS of milligrams but for people with sleeping problems, they only give you about 50mg at bedtime and that's it. It would help you get some shut eye and it's non-addictive.
ALSO - do your relaxation CD at night when you lay down. Even if you are panicking - do it anyways. Allow your feelings to be there and just float through them. Trust that nothing bad will come of your panic - Panic is only a bluff.
Don't be hard on yourself if you can't sleep. By doing so, you only keep yourself awake!
Tell yourself that you don't care if you sleep or not.
I had sleeping problems for years and years and it would frustrate me when I could not sleep. I did not realize I was keeping myself awake by worrying so much about it.
I started repeating "I don't care if I sleep or not. I have gone without it before and I can go without it again. I'll be okay. I don't care...."
By repeating this to myself, I noticed that I began to falling asleep!
Let the pressure off yourself. It really does wonders.
Hang in there!
