Dizzy

Post by BlueD » Tue Jan 15, 2013 5:26 pm

Hi, I am pretty new to the program, I am only on the 2nd cd. I have been having trouble driving alone. I just get dizzy & then my heart starts to pound. This has been going on for about 3 months now. B4 this I loved to drive... even have drove out of state by my self and now I cant even drive a few miles from home. :(
I had a panic attack while driving and ever since then I have been a mess. I wont even go to stores by my self any more.
I hate this. I used to be so independent but now I have to have my husband with me to do the smallest errand such as go to the grocery store or to the post office.
:(
I really don't know what causes my anxiety... I just know I want it to go aways!!! I have been thinking about meds!
When I start to panic I just get dizzy and everything looks foggy. I just feel so strange! Just wondering if this anyone else is having these probs and if so is the program helping you?

YES, but I get dizzy all the time. in fact I am going to the Dr. today to rule out anything else. It does affect how I live my life. I had to leave the grocery store the other night because I was so dizzy. my husband had the finish the shopping with me.
I as well don't do anything without my husband. I guess he is what Lucinda would call my "safe person"

Thanks for responding! So did you go to the Dr today? What did he say? I hae been to the Dr and they did blood work bcus I thought I had sugar problems or something like that but all of my blood work came back ok.
I just don't know what causes this... I know anxiety but its so strange. So do you feel this way at home 2? I did for a while but now im ok at home most of the time!

My very first panic attack was driving also! I feared driving for the longest time! The dizziness occurs with the heart pounding is just adrenalin, all part of the anxiety process. Once you get to the point of overcoming your fear of the body symptoms you experience during a panic attack your dizziness and rapid hear rate will subside. The whole anxiety process takes a lot of work and time, but you can overcome panic attacks. I ordered the program 7 years ago and it tremendously changed my life. After my first attack driving I went to the ER the following day because my symptoms were still there they found nothing after several tests ran and I went home scared to death because I had no idea what was wrong with me. I was homebound for months due to the fact that I had become agoraphobic I didn't like the body sensations I felt when trying to do the smallest things like grocery shopping, driving, etc. I saw the program on tv and ordered it and it really does work if you stick to it:) It takes practice, but if you follow the 6 steps of overcoming a panic attack it works. The hardest part is facing your fears and feeling the body symptoms to learn that they will not hurt you no matter how bad you feel. It took me a long time to truely tell myself I don't care how I feel, but when you truely get there you will know it and start to see that once you are not afraid the sensations lessen and eventually stop coming because it's your fear that worsens the symptoms! If you stick with the program you will see big changes I did! You can do it! Once you live for so long with anxiety you finally tell yourself no more and say whatever happens will happen and once you see it can't hurt you it is the greatest feeling in the world you will be on your road to recovery I wish you the best of luck:)

Wow!! You just explained me to a T!!! I have been avoiding driving and going to stores alone or going out of town bcus I fear the dizziness and the out of body feeling! I am so glad you commented bcus I have been wondering if this is really ALL anxiety.
You have brightened my day! I have another friend on here that is going thru a lot of the same things as I am 2. I have been thinking meds or going to the dr or something but I know I can do this by my self! It is very hard but with the program and ppl like you telling me that its not JUST ME helps so much! :D
