Update

Post by Lionsfan44 » Mon Mar 05, 2012 8:37 pm

Hello everyone.
I wanted to update everyone I posted last week about this time that I felt like my heart was stopping and starting and I was fairley confident I was going to die at any moment!!! Well guess what I'm still here! I went to the ER and they hooked me up to an EKG machine and I was so sure the technician was going to run out of the room when she sees my heart reading!! Guess what suprIse suprise no problem just palpatations. The Dr did give a beta blocker to slow my heart down but I was like at a level 15 PA. My point of the post is that anxiety is a cruel keeper it will lie to you and trick you anytime it can. The DR explained the due to stress Im having some kind of muscle twitch in my large intestine and that makes the heart bounce. He also said the CBT is highly successful and I should keep it up I want to thank all the people at StressCenter.com and look forward to the paplations stoping but in the meantime it's a way to practice my calming skills. We give it power. We give it control. I was doing all this to myself!! And after a long night in the ER I finally see that. I can say that I'm a little depressed and little obsessive about the ordeal but that I feel is natural after a stressful event
Keep up the fight
Jeff

Thanks for the update. I had seen your previous post, but was not sure how to respond. It's amazing how freeing it feels to have that realization, that with our thoughts we are actually doing this to ourselves. You are exactly right, we give it power we are continually feeding it and feeding it, until it has taken complete control. I can see how the ordeal would leave you feeling depressed, but maybe instead of being depressed you should celbrate the event. Because of what happened, you have made a great step in realizing the real issue at hand, not what the anxiety wants you to see as the issue. Although there are many more steps to take, you have made the most important step in finding true freedom!!

Keep on updating. Love to hear the progress!!

Jeff: Thank you for the update.
I used to go to the ER all of the time because of anxiety.
By the time I was admitted to the ER my symptoms became
less and less severe. They would give me an Ativan and send
me home. I also suffered from migraines (caused by anxiety
and stress) and I would end up in the ER because of those.
You did the right thing and got the right help, now it is up
to you to take the next step in your recovery.
Here is an excerpt from a book I am reading
"The most successful people I know have gotten there by
choosing to underreact to stressful conditions and
to keep moving forward".
