ALTERNATIVE TO CONVENTIONAL THERAPY

Post by jakesteel » Sun Jan 22, 2012 1:03 am

Hey everybody, :D
After messing up on my appointments twice now, I am not goin back to ASPIRE for treatment.I'm grateful for this program. It gives me an alternative to conventional therapy.I'm not suggesting this course for everybody.I've been in and out of therapy for depression and anxiety for over twenty years, and have tried just about every medication known to man.I was told by my last therapist, a competent, experienced ,psychologist that I had had enough therapy, that was ( and is ) time for me to apply all I've learned. As I really work this program and believe and trust it,I will get better,I will get my life back. And it's not just about this program. Are these correct principles? After studying the scriptures and anxiety and depression for over twenty years,I firmly believe that this program is a compilation of correct principles and as I put my heart into it,I will get the results I so deeply desire.

I will chime in to suggest that there are two halves to the whole that then has a chance. Both play a part, as I see it. The first is the traditional with Freudian leanings, meaning that we develop insights and understanding as to how we got messed up to begin with. Sometimes this is not as easy as it may appear. I've been at it for years.

The second half is CBT on which the program here is based. It is an attempt to recondition the mind, our thinking, our behavior. Not all sessions here have meaning for me as I have other issues not apparently addressed. So I address them myself, create them myself. The key in both parts is our willingness to give it the time and effort it takes, on a regular basis. CBT can and does help immensely.
