New to program

Post by Jason9389 » Wed Nov 16, 2011 12:03 am

Hi, I am just starting going through the program and would like to have support from others who understand what I am going through. I have struggled with GAD and depression in a more significant way for about 10 years and to a lesser degree throughout my childhood. I first really noticed my problem was significant when giving presentations in grad school and my mind went totally blank. I am optimistic about the program and hope to meet others for support as I go through this and would like to offer any supportmto others in whatever way I can.

Thanks, Jason

Thanks for the encouragement ladybug. GAD stands for generalized anxiety disorder. Not sure of the exact definition but it is when anxiety always follows you around. There are certain situations that make my anxiety increase greatly. For me it is when I am put on the spot or in social situations. I am overly concerned with others' opinion of me.

:D well jason i dont have a problem with presentations thank god , because i do them every day i teach cosmetology and i do an hr and a half theory presentation 4 days a week! WELL NUMBER ONE YOUR OPINION OF YOUR SELF SHOULD BE THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS ! THE WORST PART ABOUT IT IS I BET OTHERS DON'T EVEN VIEW YOU AS YOU THINK THEY DO I BET YOU WLD BE REALLY SURPRISED TO KNOW THAT WHAT THEY MAY OR MAY NOT THINK ABOUT YOU IS PROBABLY A LOT BETTER THAN YOU GIVE YOURSELF CREDIT FOR !! LEARN TO GIVE YOURSELF A PAT ON THE BACK ONCE IN AWHILE !! THROW UP THAT BIG RED STOP SIGN AND SAY STOP!!! WHEN YOU ARE HAVING THOSE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS... AND WHT I HAVE LEARNED MOST ABOUT THIS PROGRAM IS WE HAVE TO GIVE OURSELFS CREDIT WHEN CREDIT IS DUE !! DONT OVER ANALYZE IT REMEMBER IT IS OUR OWN MINDS THAT CREATE HOW WE THINK AND FILL ABOUT OUR SELVES...... :D WELL JASON I HAVE ANXIETY WITH TRAVELING , I HAVE NOT DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 15 YEARS UNTIL I STARTED THIS PROGRAM NOT MANY TIMES HAVE I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY BUT THE FEW TIMES I HAVE ITS LIKE WOW I DID IT... I HAVE BEEN DOING QUIT A LOT OF BACK ROAD DRIVING WHICH I HAVE NOT DONE IN ABOUT 5 YRS SO IAM MAKING PROGRESS!! :D IAM PROBABLY THE BEST BACK SEAT DRIVER THERE EVER WAS LOL IF I CLD POLICE THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME I WLD DO THAT TO!! I HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE PASSENGER ASK THE HUBBY HE WILL TELL YA LOL ! I HAVE AGORAPHOBIA SCARY UNCONTROLLABLE THOUGHTS. I DONT LIKE TO TRAVEL BY AIR YIKS ! OR BUS , TRAIN ECT. BUT SENSE I HAVE BEEN ON THIS PROGRAM I HAVE EXPERIENCE GREAT RELIEF !!! IAM GETTING BETTER DAY BY DAY AND SO WILL YOU !! :D

Thanks for the encouragement! So glad to hear u are makin progress :) . It is interesting how the same emotion can be attached to totally different things depending on the person. Great advice as I am often my worst enemy. I hope you continue in your progress as I begin mine.

Hi Jason, i'm new to the program also, and always have that feeling of anxiety that clings to me most of the day. I do hope this program works, have tried counseling, antidepressants, etc. I think we do have an innate predisposition to this disorder. But have had quite a lot of negative things happen in my life, and now just expecting the worst to happen. I do hope this program works, and I know it is in changing the way we perceive life, good or bad. Just learning how to do that is the key that I think unlocks the door. So far none of my other keys have worked. LOL. Good luck and I wish us both the best. Faith4

Well I think with having youth on your side, that is a plus. The younger we are, the less set we are in our ways and open to new ways of thinking. I've never experienced agoraphobia, but maybe if you had the chance to walk in a peaceful place, like the park, the oceans, or the mountains, where there is lots of nature. Please work thru this, cause you have your whole life ahead of you.....
