I have suffered with anxiety/panic for 30yrs. since then. When I was 24 I had finally figured out that what I was having was panic/anxiety attacks. Now have the knowledge to understand that it is my past learned behaviors, environment, genetics etc... that are a cause of irrational thinking that in turn feeds my fears, panic and anxiety feelings. I don't get too excited, I see it for what it is and I tell myself that it is just post-traumatic stress or just everyday stresses. I try to keep busy and not listen to my what if thoughts. I am able to sometimes but not always, put my finger on the triggers. I avoid medications, I am carefully about what i ingest and try to keep a balanced life now. I can't handle too much pressure so I try to keep life simple.

I have found affirmations to be extremely helpful, I just have to remember to actually repeat them! I have been struggling more than usual lately, a lot is going on, family members are sick, adopted a dog etc...
This quote was given to me from my Dad, from a Dean Koontz fiction novel, but it's just stuck with me:
"Pain (anxiety/panic) can be endured only if it is embraced.
Denied or feared, it grows in perception, if not
in reality. The best response to terror is righteous
anger, refusal to be intimidated."

This was sent to me in 2009, and has taken until now, for me to really love it. Especially the end part: 'Refusal to be intimidated'. I have been repeating that all day, every day. And it has been working! I have so much trouble with nauseous for hours on end while anxious, and repeating this has made a huge difference! It has also been incredibly hard, but finally working!! I feel like I am taking control back! :D

Dansbiz,
Have you tried spending 10 mins or so a day countering your thoughts in the TEA forms? They really do transform your brain's thought process and grow new anxiety reducing pathways in your brain. It sounds like you are managing your anxiety well but I think this exercise will take your relief to another level like it has for me.

Take care :)

That's really funny Chrissy
I make typos all the time so don't beat yourself up too much about it.

Ashley,
I would echo Chrissy's advice about the book and the TEA forms, they have helped me turn my life around!

I am new. Just started session 2. I am experiencing extreme muscle tension in back and chest. It is so tight that I feel I cant breathe. I went into a resturaunt to pick up something to eat, because I knew If I didnt eat i would get sick (great another reason to get anxious). Anxiety depresses my appetite. The resturaunt was crowded and upon walking in I began to get dizzy and short of breath. I couldnt even look up to the menu on the wall because I couldnt even read it straight. Ok, realized I was in a panic mode. While waiting for my food, I tried to breathe as instructed at the end of session two, but my physical symptoms were overwhelming me. Tried going into Costco with my husband to distract myself with shopping (thought that would work) but it didn't. I finally broke down and had to take a xanax to feel better. Help please, what should I do? I hate feeling these symptoms and only get more anxious because I cant function. Please please please, can anyone relate and any advice? I really need this program to work!
