So many years went by, can withdrawl symptom last?

Post by yun38 » Fri Jun 24, 2011 7:50 pm

Haven't taken any med for quite sometime, maybe more than 8 years, possibly close to 10 years ! At the same time I also hated the side effects resulting from those med I took that I stopped too quickly. Now before I took Paxil or any other similar drug, my ocd wasn't as frequent and neither panic attack or feeling restless and irritated which all seem to happen after I began using Paxil. And now ever since I was no longer on any med ( last taken on 2002) ,I still feel restless and irritated and get some panic attack middle of the night!

So since it's been close to a decade, are these reaction due to long term withdrawl symptom effect or a relapse?

Lastly according to the ocd diagnosis, at this moment it is pretty moderate and now I am wondering if my ocd can improve if I give another chance using the program from StressCenter?

From reading what people have posted and makes sense to me, people do return and do give the program their full attention all over again.

The program is based on CBT and this may require some refreshing, some reconditioning. Do give it a try again and then keep it alive with what you've learned and experienced even when you are done with it. Because, in fact, you are never really done with it. An athlete is never done training, a person who is weight conscious is never done with that issue. Just some examples. Best wishes to you.

Good Answer, Tina! Yun38, I too have been free of Antidepressants for only 9 months, give or take because I weaned off completely of very strong AD's 1 1/2 years ago just to experience my first panic attack. So I've been working on the "withdrawals" of living with AD's for over 10 years to not taking any, and experiencing many life changes as well. So that is what brought me here and it is helping. It isn't easy, but I also tell myself that things weren't easy when I was on the meds.

So the program has helped me as well as for me prayer and meditating or pondering, other words would be soul searching and reevaluating my goals in life. I hope you do well. Paislee
