Hi all-
I was cleaning out a cupboard today, when I got a call that "they" wanted to redo my mammo from yesterday. I tried to remember all my MWS stuff, and went in to an available appt. right away. I didn't want to have time to fret. So- I went in, got it done, and they were able to reposition the breast and whatever offending thing that showed the first time didn't show in the more squeezey 2nd time. So-- first off, I was so thankful. Now, I feel like I am in a daze. Kind of like "what just happened?". They want me to come in again in 6 months to recheck. So- I've had 2 in 2 days and have the "what if" thing going on. I need to tell myself NO SCRATCH just like a dog. Anyone been thru this before? I'm trying to remember Proverbs 3:5,6 and let God be in control.

Re: re do of mammogram
Hi newrunner, I was once called back to have an ultra sound. They found something in a spot close to the chest wall. There were then risks in them going in for a biopsy. I sweated that for a bit but went back. They were able to aspirate what they thought was suspicious. Everything was fine.
For your peace of mind you may want to ask to speak to the doctor who reads the mammogram to get more info and reassure yourself. Best to you.

Hi newrunner,
I have had that happen to me as well. Many times, get the call : we see something on your mamo that needs a different angle come on back. Spot compression, ultra sound more testing. Look for words like "nodular" constellation, cyst, fibroid ect...
After all my "other testing" and the expense of all that, I had cyst. Several of them. I went to a breast specialist and she drained them and said it was clear fluid nothing to worry about. ( that was not a big deal either.)The last several years I have had clear Mams. No extra expensive test required.
It is alarming to hear that call come but I guess look at it that they are watching you, and that is a relief that they really do look at those films! Just follow up and ask more questions. That helps me under stand what is going on, rather then doing the what if thinking.
Glad you got it done and they cleared you for 6 months. I think I would ask for more information that way your mind won't wonder too much.
Your not alone, and most of the time these things are not cancer!

Re: re do of mammogram
I knew there had to be some ladies out there with experience in both anxiety and mammograms
Thanks so much for the reply. I have really been praying to God to help me to trust Him. The MD wouldn't have said "go home, come back in 6 months" if he had really wanted me to get an ultrasound or biopsy or whatever. But, he said go home. So, I'm trying to believe him.
I have found myself thinking in the last 20 hours-- Do my kids know I love them, have I taught them well, how will I look with no hair, oh rats we are just starting to build a retirement home, my husband loves my chest-- if I don't have boobs will he still love me?
I am going to let myself settle a bit and if I just can't get over the hump, I'll call back for more info. Thank you all again so much.

Re: re do of mammogram
I did call and tell them that yesterday was kind of a daze for me, so I wanted them to explain stuff.
The tech got out my info. and read me the doctor's report. It basically said nothing seen, but couldn't see the picture clearly enough to feel comfortable giving it an all clear. So, that is why I had to go again. And they are bound by some law to "request" that people come back in 6 months for a recheck. So- it's all good. Just wanted you to know how it ended out so far.

New runner,
Thanks for the up date! I was thinking you had good news, and I'm glad you called to have that confirmed! Now you can rest about it and not let it creep into your thoughts. Excellent!
I have health anxiety's too, so I know how it works!
I go this month as well, but I am not real worried about it. I am doing a little better about going for test and doctors sense I did the program. Doing the what ifs, and going to the worse possible thing are so second nature to me. I am changing all that but it does take time and practice.
Glad you had good news!
