Yes, as we all know, those of us with anxiety over-analyze every health symptom they have. I am a 30 year old woman who quit smoking about 2 weeks ago. Last night I was laying in bed trying to sleep and I got this horrible throbbing pain in my right arm. It lasted for about 15 minutes and then went away. Today my arm is a little weak but other than that it's fine. So of course, now I'm worried about heart attack. Has anyone else had this? No, I haven't done anything strenuous. I work out and lift weights about 3 times a week, but have had no problems. I cooked thanksgiving dinner yesterday and had a few glasses of champaign but that was it. Any ideas?

Congrads on quiting smoking. I can't last more then 3 hrs without my smokes. I don't know what your arm pain is but I can tell you that after a stressful day, while I am sleeping I get alot of numbies in my arms. I think mine is from tense muscles. Sorry I couldn't help you, someone hear will give you the answer your looking for

Hi Melissa,
Yes congrats on quitting, I'm going through that processs now.

I have been told that gall bladder can cause pain in the right arm but if it continues or comes back I would think it's best to see a doctor or go to an ER just to be sure all is ok. Then you can be sure. Likely it is nothing but better safe than not.

Good luck.

Happy Black Friday? Pain and numbness in the left shoulder, arm and hand is usually associated with a heart attack; not pain in your right arm. I agree with everyone else, it may have been your gall bladder. If you ate a lot of high-fat or very rich foods yesterday, it had to work over time and you could have suffered a mild gall bladder attack. If it happens again, or resumes, check with your doctor or go to the ER. It also may have been associated with quitting smoking (congrats, by the way), when I quit I had all sorts of funny pains - some of them quite severe - all over the place.

I know this is not a good thing to stress on pains. But like was said check it out first to make sure. I had a blood clot and was told that "sometimes" a blood clot will somewhat block an artery 'making' the heart pump harder to break through that area. So better safe than sorry. Have it checked out. It MAY be NOTHING. I often get pains almost in the arm pit area sort of like having a tennis ball pushed tight into the arm pit. My doc said years ago said "join the club it is part of getting old". Check it out anyway that way you don't stress on it.
