My chin breakouts are horribe! Ive struggled with acne forever. Proactiv stopped working. I use an aveda cleanser right now. Ive tried everything. what works for these ingrown ones?

I use neosporin cream all over my face and it helps with pimples. I swear by it.

I've used Retin A from a dermatologist for years. Works very well for adult acne and also good for wrinkles! They also gave me an antibiotic cream for the deeper ones you mentioned. Worked very well. Aveda facials may use too much oil which is one thing my dermatologist told me not to use in any creams or cleansers because it made things worse. Nothing I used worked better than the retin A or a retinoid from the dermatologist. I haven't had any acne for many years now.

I would agree that a visit to a dermatologist would help LOTS. They have so many solutions available that could make a difference for you.

Let us know how it works out!

CG,

I have struggled with this since a teenager as well.

One thing to do is make sure your hormones are in check, that has been a major factor for me.

Using a mineral makeup like bareminerals helped a lot and also improved the actual texture of my skin within a couple weeks.

Exfoliate more often, I don't use scrubs with a bunch of ingredients, I use my regular face wash and a face scrub sponge.

I don't use a lot of products on my skin. I use baby oil to remove eye makeup and a basic cleanser (Cetaphil) that has no fragrances and restore the PH balance. Occasionally I spot on moisturizer if certain areas are really dry but I DON'T use it regularly or all over my face.

I started using On-The-Spot pimple cream by Neutrogena. (Clearisil is MUCH harsher and will dry out your skin more, I tested both over a long period of time.) I put a good layer on all over the area that breaks out regularly every night. I rub it all the way in really good. This will really help...use a good amount. You should see improvement within a couple weeks at most once all the pimples there come to the surface. The only thing about this is that it will dry your skin out for a while. It doesn't dry mine out at all because I have been doing it so long. Use a light moisturizer for a bit and exfoliate dead skin regularly. Once your skin gets use to it you will stop getting the flaky skin from it. This has actually been the most effective topical remedy I have used. I use it even when my skin is clear.

Internally, make sure you stay detoxed....don't mean to bring this up, but you to make sure you don't have a large build up of toxins in the body. Also, drink lots of water, but I am sure you know this. Aloe Vera juice daily will also make a big difference in the texture of skin and the speed at which it heals..I have experimented with this. It works. You have to make sure you get a good potent, pure brand though.

Hope this helps you!

Additional note about On-The-Spot:

Most people have tried pimple creams like this...
The key that I have found that actually gets really good results is using it every day, and in a good amount all over the area that breaks out. (And even on days that you are not broken out to prevent the break outs.) If the skin is really bad, using it twice a day will really help, but some people can take using this much as it will really dry the skin out.

I myself have tried some of the anti biotic creams, they didn't work for me. These ideas work topically without as many side effects as medications, but you also want to find the root of it....doing a liver detox, checking hormones, making sure you drink lots of water, go to the restroom regularly, and check the thyroid. Also taking high potent (liquid if possible) vitamins and minerals for the skin in large doses to bring the body back in balance if there is a def. can help. These will help make sure the internal foundation is strong, there is a reason you have acne. Taking antibiotics and acne meds as most doctors prescribe never brings your body back in balance nor does it deal with the root of the problem.

Good luck!

OH I do also use retin a cream at night but let me tell you the zneosporin cream has really kept my face clear. I urge you to try it seriously. Iv tried so many acne products. My regime is tea tree oil wash by desert essence its so amazing. Even putting tea tree oil on your pimples works great!! TTO and neosporin are the best! My break outs have all to do with my hormones. Drink lots of water of course and I use Bare minerals as well. For soem bare minerals may cause a rash so try Everyday Minerals. That one is even MORE natural than Bare minerals. Anyway I can go on and on because I am very much into skin and make up. Used to work at Sephora! Well good luck girl!

Hey Holly J and everybody! I was just reading your posts about skin care-something I am very interested in as well.I've been using Bare Minerals for about 8 years and I love it!I have never heard of Everyday Minerals and I know there are a number of mineral makeups out there now. Is Everyday Minerals a company in and of itself?
