I just finished my second day at my new job which is for a behavioral health company. (Man, talk about the irony. :D)

I am so happy to be out of the hold job. It literally was like a prison including the need to ask to go to the bathroom . I kid you not.

Today I was thinking about everyone here on the forum. (Yesterday I was dealing with new-hire orientation and a slight case of nervousness.) Being an anxiety and depression sufferer and knowing about pure OCD through my friend, I feel like we got one of our own on the inside. In other words, the behavioral health industry has someone who knows firsthand what anxiety and depression is all about. I don't say this for my ego.

It will be a great thing for me to have personal understanding when a patient calls for anxiety and depression. Perhaps this will also be the job where I have virtual job contentment. In all my prior jobs except one (and that was a part-timer), I have never had been content.

:)

How awesome, you will be a better employee for it! You can honestly say "I understand" and mean it. Good for you.

Want2FeelGoodAgain and MaryJane,

Thank you! Thank you!

Today a procedure was taught that I knew from personal experience. When we get a patient calling, we are supposed to ask three questions: do you feel like hurting yourself or someone else?, do you feel any physical pain from alcohol/drug use?, do you hear or see things others do not? These questions were asked to me earlier in the spring when I was looking for a therapist.

I just had to share from today. I helped a mother whose child was cutting herself, and a veteran suffering from PTSD.

I am not going to note every day. I just had to mention today's activities because it was my first day of "hands-on" activity. I got such a wonderful feeling from assisting these two. Also I felt such job satisfaction that I haven't felt in over 20 years!
