I received the program and I'm now starting, but it seems this program is more geared to anxiety than depression..or atleast leans in this direction. Is this true?

Hello dpt. I think the program addressess both anxiety and depression. When I started the program last Dec, I knew I was a severely anxious person. What I learned from the program is that I did have some underlying depression which I had not been aware of.

I definitely felt the program help me in both the anxiety and depression issues. Give it a try.

Wishing you much success in your recovery. take care and God Bless.

hi. I agree with bna. Do the program and you'll see how much it helps with depression. You will be amazed. After all, as bna said, people with anxiety tend to have underlying depression. Therefore, it has to help depression.

The first time Lucinda Bassett developed this program it was called attacking anxiety. When she found that so many people were also suffering from depression, she developed the Combatting Stress and Depression Program program. So this program is for depression too.

In the beginning the program seems to address anxiety only but as you progress thru the sessions, and if you work the assignments, you will see how very much it can alleviate depression. Negative thinking and negative self talk contributes immensely to depressed feelings.

I have had depression many times in my life, but what I am learning is that I didn't realize anxiety during depression because i thought those anxious feelings were all symptoms of depression. Only since looking back at what may have triggered the depression do i realize that the two most often go hand in hand. I've learned alot in this first week & I will be beginning session 2 on Saturday. I hope you will travel with me :

I began Session 15 this morning. Every session has addressed my depression, and I'm pleased to say today I am not depressed. There are some very, very good older posts with excellent information about depression in past Forum threads (Depression Forum). If you read them, you will find you are in such good company here. So many people in this community have the same degree of depression as you, and they understand your suffering. I wish you an excellent recovery from your depression. Kind regards, Pecos

I have been suffering from insomnia for a number of years and have to take sleeping pills every night to sleep. I also have to take xanax once in a while for anxiety. My husband is blind and he still has not accepted the fact that he is blind and he sometimes takes out his frustration on me, my children and my grandchildren. I try to be a buffer to keep peace in my family. It causes me quite a bit of stress.

The hospital where I worked for 31 years was closed last December. It was very stressful on me since I am the main bread winner in the family. It was really hard trying to get back out and finding a new job. I really miss my friends at my old job. We all grew up together.

I got the program to hopefully help me get past the anxiety and depression that I deal with daily. Since I started listening to the program, I have not had to take any of my xanax so that is a great start. The relaxation tape is really helping me calm down before going to bed. I love it.

I hope that I continue to improve as I go through the program.

When I did the program I thought I only suffered from depression and as I started going thru each lesson I realized that my anxiety was causing my depression! The two are very related. It may not seem that way but by feeling depressed its a mechanism you are using to protect yourself from experiencing life fully. I say go thru the program. If its not for you, no big deal. :) The resale on the program, on Ebay is pretty good. A lot of people suffer like we do. Take care and enjoy.

It's so good to hear from you all! The encouragement is so uplifting. I am still trying to learn all the ins & outs of the different forums, my October group (which was put in place only a couple days ago), the other features of thi wonderful online resource, and how to navigate around in all of them :) I was SO frustrated at first, but realized my "I need to know all of this NOW" attitude is one of the things that causes anxiety for me and leads to deoession.......so, during week 2, I decided no more of that perfectionistic stuff for me!Noola
