I completed the program in 2004. I felt like I had completely beat anxiety. Then I was challenged by a lot of changes between March 2007 and November 2007 when I got divorced, met a new wonderful man, sold my home, and moved from Michigan to California. I have been feeling a lot more anxiety since we've been out here, mostly over not being able to find a job right away. One of the topics in the program is "Getting Beyond A Growth Spurt" and I guess that is what is happening here. I think I just need to refresh my skills, but I am getting a little discouraged about whether or not I will ever truly recover completely from anxiety. Does anyone have any words of comfort/encouragement?
Hi Jenny,
In my opinion, what you are experiencing is totally normal. I.E. it is totally normal to experience anxiety, especially considering all the changes going on in your life.
It is how we handle the anxiety that counts. Instead of being overwhelmed by it and letting it cascade into a bunch of negative self doubt, we can recognize it just for what it is.
Anxiety will never disappear from our lives and nothing will ever be perfect, however, we do have the ability to react positively to anxiety and/or problems or get eaten up by them.
Just stay positive and good things will happen sooner or later. Good luck.
