It seems to be what I dream about at night that gives me depression. I have not had a pleasant dream in ages. Last night it was about how my parents where bad to me as a child, the night before it was about betraying my wife. The sad thing is the mind doesn't seem to be able to tell the difference between a vivid dream and reality, you wake up feeling what you have just dreamed about has really happened and you feel in the case of betraying my wife really guilty, and last nights dream IE my parents being bad to me you feel depressed.

Anyone else like this? It really does effect my mood throighout the day

The same kind of thing happens to me, I'll have unpleasant dreams that just seem weird and i feel like crap when i wake up and wondering like "did that happen?" It's really bad, I know. Im sorry you're having these.

I heard something about being able to somehow turn your dreams around when they're happening, and make them better. maybe try reading more into it? or somehow make your mind realize whats happening and when it's bad, wake yourself up. It sounds weird and crazy and probably really hard to do something like that, but worth a shot? Good luck, I hope things turn up.

I always thought dreams were manifestations of our mind...like what we were expereincing and thinking about trying to work itself out. Lucinda talks on one session (sorry - can't remember which one, but it has to be before #11 because that's the one I'm on now!) about how you can dream a solution to a problem.

Unfortunately I don't know the answer for you...I wish I did. Dreams are not real though - they can be just like obsessive scary thoughts...just thoughts...they can not hurt you.

Have you tried listening to the relaxation cd before you go to bed? I mean - while you are in bed...about to go to sleep? Maybe that would help your brain untangle a bit and let you rest. Also - maybe you could try focusing on positive things...things you are thankful for as you are lying in bed about to go to sleep. It may not work right away, but I bet with practice (ie - making it a habit) it could.

Best wishes for sweet dreams...

Hi Celeron:

Dawn is correct it is a manifestation of your subconscience.. it sounds like you spend time living out either past experiences or future fears, all of which are negative thought producers, of course causing depression. If you are on a med talk to your doc, one of the symptoms of some meds are vivid/strange dreams. If you arent on any meds, I suggest you start working on your thought process and 'issues' such as forgiving your parents for the wrong they did to you (not in person but in your heart) look forward into positives, if there is ONE thing that has been consistantly stressing you out for some time than that could also be triggering the unsettled feelings you have (I mean a bad job, bad relationship, guilt about something specific) than dealing with that one thing may make all the difference. I was in a bad relationship once, which I know was bad, it was about 5 years and in the last 2 before I left there was this house I would go to to take care of a fish aquarium, nonetheless the fish were dying, mean, unhealthy and the tanks were disgusting, I felt guilty when I awoke. AFter leaving the relationship (and im not joking)I had a dream where I went back to the same spot and everything was healthy and alive! isnt that scary?! anyways.. I think your dreams come as a result of the experience and way you think which causes bad dreams and confusion and then the anxiety bad dreams cause, and depression follows both of those (negative thinking and bad dreams) just a thought! It is all related!

Please keep us posted! are you doing the program?
