Im wondering if i have fibromyalgia now. . .? anyway, every time after I work (work at a coffee shop) and come home take a shower and lay to relax my body feels awful. I am sooo achey and even feel like i am getting the flu. its weird. sometimes I'll even get the chills and feel nauseated. I am only 23 and fee like an old woman. its sad. i this anxiety causing this? The thing is, at work i have a good time and don't really feel bad but when i go home to relax i feel terrible. i also have thought i have chronic fatigue syndrome. If i dont get enough sleep i always feel bad the rest of the day. does anyone get this way?? i mean a ooerson my age after working at a coffee shop should feel fine. . . though it is harder than it seems. . Thank god i dont drink caffeine!!

Holy J,
Sometimes and a lot of the time lately I've felt the same way. (I'm32) Like an achey flu bug has hit me. Then I sometimes wonder if I don't have something weird but have to bring myself back to that it's MOST likely from the anxiety and stress. For me lately, my head feels like it's going to pop off, like there's so much pressure around the base of my head and neck that I can't stand it!!! But, I remember I had this before I did the program and then guess what? It went away as I did the program. I had a scare and I slipped and now I'll be doing the program with a coach, so I have hope. I think that we become so unbelievabley aware of ourselves and how we feel that, that's why we hurt all the time. And becasue we are so tense all the time, when we do relax, it hurts the muscles. Anxiety and stress and depression can do just the most horrible things to a person. I know you're here a lot, think about how many people have posted their symptoms and how many and different they are. Good luck!

Hi Holly,

I get those same feelings to, I am ok once I moving around and doing things, but once I sit for a while and relax I get so stiff, I am only 42. I store all my tension in my neck and shoulders & back, like you Theresa I get some slamming tension headaches. It hurts sometimes just to move my neck. I did the chriopracter, it helped somewhat, the massage was the best!

I have an Dr. Appt and he is going to test me for Lyme, I live in an area that has a high population for lyme.

Good luck to you both,
Debbie

yes I get those feelings too.

I noticed a long time ago that every month around that time of the month I would be saying I dont feel good...like I have a cold or a flu. I do think that its all connected. I know that when its my cycle I am much more prone to anxiety and body symptoms and I do think they do come about as flu like.

It took me a while to make the connection but I see a definate pattern to it. Its so frustrating. I try to really concentrate on my diet and rest and excersise levels during those times.....if I eat sugar (which actually makes me feel better) I will feel much worse in a short while. So I try to not snack on junkies when I feel the anxiety kick in. I also try to get some extra rest. With two small children and a house to maintain its not always easy but I force myself to stop and rest with the kids when they nap. Its good for them and its good for me. I tend to fall asleep much later when Im anxious so Im loosing precious hours of rest and if I dont replace I feel awful....I get so dizzy and icky feeling when Im lacking sleep.

Excersise I need to be better at....I do stay active with housework and kids but making the time for just me to go for a brisk walk or ride the bike is a struggle....I try to do the best I can and when I feel those symptoms a good ride will help boost my mood and get the body feeling better....it doesnt have to be long even once around the block is good....more is better but sometimes we have to take what we can get.

Well thats what I do to help a bit to wait till the feelings pass....hope it helps.

Hi Holly,
This might be a thyroid/hormone issue. Maybe you should see your OB/GYN for hormone questions instead of your family doc.

Holly, your regular doctor can check you for this and I beleive that even family planning can check you also for a low fee. I've had my thyroid tested 4 times in the last 8 months at half of my emergency room visits and guess what? Everything is great and or normal. Lovely huh, I guess I am happy that it is just anxiety and not something serious like my sister in laws friend who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and she's just 24. DON'T jump to conclusions, she was having MAJOR problems, not like us and I'm just pointing this out for us to be GRATEFUL for not having something like she does. If you want to make yourself feel better about your situation, look at seriously ill, handicapped or homeless people, and that will make you forget about the little aches and pains. Well, it works for me anyway.

Holly,

I totally sympathize with you. I feel achey and like I'm sick day to day. My boyfriend is sick of me talking about my pains. Honestly, I do think it's real pain, but I think it is caused by our thinking. I know the program doesn't promote antidepressants, but I went throught the program about 8 or 9 years ago and did wonderful with it. But recently about 2 months ago I started on 25 mg of Zoloft to help with my moodiness and remarkably, a lot of my aches and pains went away. I complain a whole lot less and my boyfriend has noticed. It's not for everyone, but for me it honestly helps. And exercise, that can never be understated. Good luck!

Therese Michele,
So true. . I need to focus on the good more than the bad.

Emma Rose-YOU GOT IT RIGHT ON THE DOT!!!!! That is exactly whats happening and just hearing it from someone else makes it more real for some reason. Yesterday at work i did feel some uncomfortable feelings and was freaking out a little about this pain in the center of my chest and by the end of the night i felt so tired i did just want to go home. . But a lot of times when work is more fun than it was last night i forget about things and feel good and interact with people and than when its time to go home im like oh man, im gonna feel bad because i always do. when i lay and relax my body just feels so tense. my feet always hurt too (i stand all day at my job) and this is usually when my head feels very back and forth wooshy feeling when i close my eyes. . also, last night i felt worse than usual (probably because i worked a lonnng shift and my body is not used to it, and i have anxiety which makes everything worse) but yes Emma, that is how i feel. BUT when i worked at my last job where i got my panic attack i was anxious all the time there and felt better being home. . . Thank god this job is less stressful because i like it.

Amber lee,
Thank you for sharing. My boyfriend gets a little fed up sometimes with me complaining all the time. . so Ive stopped complaining a lot and now just complain to you lovely people on Stress center :p

Thank you all for your replies. Oddly enough, I can see some improvement (even tho it doesn't seem it)

Hey Holly,

Your comment about being young yet feeling so old really hit home for me. I'm 24, and I swear I feel like I have an 90 year old's mind, body, and spirit. It is anziety. I, too, am often plagued with flu-like symptoms. I've even gotten low grade fevers before. I've had every test in the book and they've all come back negative. I always think there must be something that the tests are missing...I'm so tired so I have to be anemic or have chronic fatigue syndrome or something. That's what my mind tells me. Anyway feel free to vent to me anytime because it seems we are going through something pretty similar.
