I've been doing pretty good lately but for some reason my daughter's band concert gives me anxiety. Something about being locked in a gym with a couple hundred parents and 4th graders playing instruments gets me going.

I know that would get most people but my problem is when I get like that I have several bad days to follow, then I start fearing the fear and away I go.

I try to do the steps but I'm not very good at it I guess.

I'm already having anticipatory anxiety thinking about having a bad weekend.

i am learning to always think positive and live IN the moment. you are living in the future and worrying about something that doesnt have to happen. so just really try to live in the present moment. and try not to think about what COULD happen, but rather, what you WANT to happen. you dont want to be anxious for the weekend,so try telling yourself you are going to be FINE and will enjoy youself! i know sometimes, easier said than done. but ive been workingon that lately and it seems to be working!

I too have these feelings when I go to places like this and to events at my children's school. I am afraid of embarrassing them. I don't have much good advice as I usually try to sit near the back and just try to work through the steps as best I can. I am really working on the not obsessing about things until they get here - the anticipatory anxiety is very difficult for me and the what if's. I try to think about getting through each moment and not the "whole" thing and usually that way I can stay focused.

Sorry not much help, but wanted to let you know you are not alone in this feeling!

Blessings,
Leah

Can you and your husband ride seperately so you can leave if you need to after her performance? I've found just having that option helps alot. Sit on an aisle or stand near the doors if you can too. No one will know why you need to go outside or use the restroom. REmember to take deep breathes too!
