I am not too happy at my job. The actual job I do is not too bad, because it's easy, but sometimes easy is boring, and not a challenge, so I have too much time to think and obsess over stupid stuff.
I would like to change my environment of my job. It's very fast paced, and a lot of people walking around and in your face all the time. My job is a huge source of stress for me. That is where I experience most of my anxiety and panic attacks. My symtoms are I always feel like everyone is judging me, talking about me, laughing at me, I feel like most people there don't like me, so I always feel defensive, insecure, tense, not relaxed, nervous. It's hard for me to open up and talk to people. I only talk to about 4 or 5 people and there are about 100 people there. I've been contemplating a lot lately about finding another job, but I don't want to quit before I go through the whole program, so I can see if it's just me or is this place really not good for me. thanks for asking.

Are you happy at your current place of employment?
Yes. I work at a small nonprofit. So people are close and caring.
Are you happy with the job that you do every day?
Pretty much. The drawback of being at a small organization is that I have to do a lot of grunt work.
What is it about your job/career that you would
like to change?
To be honest, I'd like to change how I react to stress. I think I'm developing better skills than I've ever had before with this program. So that's helping.
Is you job a significant source of stress for you?
Yes. But when I'm not panicking, I thrive on it.
Do you have anxiety on the job?
Yes. But more likely in slow times, than busy times.
Describe the symptoms that you experience,
Obsessive thoughts. Heart racing. Occasional lightheadedness and depersonalization.

Are you happy at your current place of employment?
Yes I love my job but this was not always the case. I was driving to work the other day trying to remember all the jobs that I've had! I was up to number 27!!! And I know I missed a lot.
Are you happy with the job that you do every day?
For the most part. I really enjoy the fact that I get to work in web production. Its not a technical position and its not creative either. I'd love to be more creative but this is a great start and they are paying for me to go to college!
What is it about your job/career that you would
like to change?
Be more creative, obtain better people skills, communication, and assertiveness.
Is you job a significant source of stress for you?
No. In the past at the 27 other jobs it was a HUGE SOURCE OF stress.
Do you have anxiety on the job?
Of course I do but I deal with it. Try to keep things in tact because I do enjoy what I'm doing. I just deal with it. I've found the more I worry about doing something the bigger waste of time it is. I just tackle it. Stop stressing because I cannot predict the outcome. I'm not perfect. I don't have to be. I just ask for help!
Describe the symptoms that you experience.
In the past it was negative obsessing. Panick. Walking off many jobs. Avoiding. Not going in. Worrying. Crying. Freaking out!!
I 'like' my job but I am getting bored and need a change.Originally posted by DebDeb:

I don't like my place of employment. it's so hard to get to-traffic is a nightmare and I am sick and tired of having to deal with this on a
regular basis first thing in the morning.
It gives me a lot of anxiety just getting here
and then the fear of getting fired if I'm late
makes it even worse.
I'd like to go into my own business- I love fashion but it's hard to open up my own store
in this economy right now when I see that a lot
of them are closing all over.
I have been looking around but nothing really
jumps out at me. & there's not many jobs to choose from.
I have anxiety on the job but not as bad as before I started the program. I have been able to relax myself and do a lot of self talk to get me out of a negative slump.
It's just so hard not to be negative when you feel 'stuck'
Perhaps I should just have a baby and take some
time off. We'll see, I'll finish the program
first before making any decisions but the job has been a big stressor for me since I started.
I use to have a lot of symptoms before the program. Headaches, rapid heartbeats, tight muscles, TMJ pain, and overall really tensed up
and not very happy.
Now I do get the occasional anxiety day but I am able to control the symptoms more effectively.
No anxiety attacks on the job, but summer traffic patterns on a 30 minute drive to work have increased, causing significant near panic situations for me on a daily basis, more so on the way home. Need to watch what I eat late in the day to prevent panic from setting in.Are you happy at your current place of employment? Yes, my job offers me new challenges and projects.
Are you happy with the job that you do every day? Currently, yes.
What is it about your job/career that you would
like to change?
More interaction with people. I used to work in health care, with more interaction with patients and people on a daily basis. In this job, sometimes I only interact with less than 10 people a day. E-mail has significantly decreased social interaction in my workplace.
Is you job a significant source of stress for you?
At times, if there are deadlines.
Do you have anxiety on the job? Sometimes, usually not when it's busy. I would rather be busy and productive than have down time/office time to think and obsess.
Describe the symptoms that you experience.
Hi Lucie
I too have panic when stuck in traffic jams.
Today was no exception. It took me over an hour
to get to a 25 mile job. Horrendous!!
Then I start panicking that I will be late and
my boss is watching my time-so I have to be extra
sure that I am not late-I guess I need to keep leaving extra early again. It's so wierd one day I can breeze thru in less than a 1/2 hour and then others it takes over an hour. So extreme and it's hard to figure out on a 'safe'
time to leave the house -I guess somewhere in between?
