i dont mean cry funny tears, i mean sadness. i just looked at the humor for anxiety and i loved the one about cookie monster, but when i started to chuckle, my eyes teared up and i wanted to cry a sad cry. i love "Funniest Vedeos" but i cant watch them because whenever i start to laugh, i cry real hard. please, someone tell me that i'm not crazy, that someone else does this. maybe somebody knows why?

imkay,
I can't say that I have ever had that to happen to me. I have actually done the exact opposite. My husband can be telling me about something very serious and I will literally hold back from laughing until I can't. I feel crazy when I do it because I don't know of anyone who does that. It makes me feel like a very Bad person when I do this. It's not like the funny home videos. When you SEE someone get hurt and you laugh. It's usually about someone he knows that was in a bad car wreck and got hurt or even him telling me about his dad may have cancer....I KNOW....IT'S AWEFUL!! I can't believe I'm telling anyone this...please don't judge me for it. I really don't know why I do it. I have thought that maybe it's a way for me to cope w/ bad news...like my mind does'nt know any other way to handle it.

I really don't think your crazy. Maybe there is something your supressing that you can't remember. I'm only giving my opiuon. It may be like what I said about me. It might be your minds way of dealing w/ something. It might helped to journal how your feeling.

I hope that helped in some small way.
Take care of yourself :)

I do both! I cry when I'm laughing...even snot bubbles some times :D and Karen, I too hold back laughter when I'm told of some kind of tragedy(Don't be embarrassed by admitting that, cuz I'm with ya on this one)I don't know what it is either! I've heard other people say the same thing. So I don't think it's abnormal.. I personally think that my emotions are always "all over the board", and "It" doesn't know the proper response to each scenerio??? Just my guess. I'd love to hear other responses on this one! It bothers me too

ahhhhh gotta love life :D

God bless you both

I sometimes start to cry when I am laughing. I personally think what happens to me is that I am happy, laughing away and then my head starts to think "don't be too happy, something will have to go wrong if you are too happy."

I think I feel like I don't deserve to be happy.... that I am really fated for misery.

Obviously, I am trying to change this!! I am about to start positive self-talk today so I hope that will help somewhat.

Karen and Mom of 6.

When you want to laugh when someone tells you something bad, it's the way some people display nervousness. It isn't that it's funny, it's just your body and mind dealing with the nervousness you're feeling. I'm that way sometimes too.
