It's anticipatory anxiety, Robin. Before working on my session, I too had severe anxiety in the morning and alot of the times full blown panic attacks. Being consistant with doing the homework is key. I remember the relaxation cd making me more anxious when I first started listening to it. I would practice it about 2-3 times a day until I got through it comfortably. Now, I use it everynight and usually fall asleep by it. What session are you on? pinkee

Yes-I've had it from time to time----get up and get busy or go for a brisk walk---it helps to start a project or go to work early to get your mind off the isues that cause your anxiety.

Things that worked for me - eating something as soon as I get up to get the blood sugar levels up again after the drop during the night, going out for a walk early in the morning, Tai Chi routine, reading over my list of gratitudes, reading over positive statement thoughts for the day, listening to our relaxation tape before bed and first thing in morning, cut out or decrease caffeine first thing in the morning. I found that getting busy early really helped. Probably because the brain doesn't have time to start dwelling on everything, and the early distraction and re focusing seems to dissipate some of this junk that comes up first thing in the morning. It's a common problem for a lot of people with anxiety and I've found things that help me through trial and error. I also found that the less I feared these early morning episodes the less they occurred. The fear just creates more intensity and you get stuck in this loop.

Yes, I have that also almost every morning when I am going through these episodes. For months I did fine-no panic at all and all of a sudden over the past month I have had panic/anxiety every morning--nervous stomach, heart racing, headache etc in the mornings. I dwell on things that may happen to me or I wonder if I am okay--like do I have an illness or something. I really want this morning panic to stop. Please help.

I also have those morning panics. They can be rough. Last night as i was having an anxiety attack, i started to excercise and then after that i put in the relaxation tape and i fell asleep while doing it. This morning i woke up with just a little panic, im thinking relaxation tape every night from now on :)

I'm so tired of the morning panic. I just ordered the tapes, so I'm looking forward to it from what everybody has said. The morning panics are stopping me from going to work, and I'm working from home.... I'm just so frustrated with myself.

Reading everyones posts may not stop the morning panic, but it is helpful to know that I'm not the only one going thru this. I'm finding that not feeling alone in all this does bring some comfort.

I suffer from the same problem. Mornings are the worst part of the day for me. Sometimes I even get sick from the anxiety. I have started focusing on my breathing and meditations which help. I am just getting started back on the program so I hope it will help.

I know there is not a whole lot of solution in my reply but I can empathize with you -

All my best,

Dan
