The instructions recommend introducing myself and telling a little about my background, so here goes: I'm 46, I live in Chicago, and I have struggled with depression for most of my life. The first time I actually sought medical help was in 1994, and I went to a day hospital program for my depression in 1995. The day hospital helped a little, temporarily, but the medication never really seemed to help me, although I continued on it, off and on, for the next 13 years. Just before this past Christmas of 2008, I felt like my depression was at an all time low (the holidays are ALWAYS very bad for me) and that's when I saw the infomercial. I did my first session today, and now I am trying to learn about the online support group.
Thanks.
Intro
Welcome. I have been on this program for one month. I to have depression along with anxiety. I have found that exercise has helped me alot along with this forum. This is the only place I can express myself and people really understand what I am going through. I have seen some positive results from the program but still have bad days. Goood luck with your journey.
Welcome Dana3840, I joined the program December of 2007, I was pretty bad then. I was getting better and doing the program and then I had a huge set back in early May of 2008. I then joined the program with a coach and did ALOT of other things, like joined an aerobics class, walked more and took a singing class (which made me happy and had me focus on fun things).
To make a long story short: This program helped me so much. I am still working on myself everyday. I exercise at least 4 times a week and I meditate every day (just 10 minutes a day) and all of this helps. Lucinda's program really helped me, what a blessing it is. I am not on anti-depressants anymore and I take clonapen (anti-anxiety medicine) as needed (about once a month). I have come such a long way from my very scary breakdown in early May. You are not alone and this internet community forum is such a blessing too.
Take care and know that you have the faith and support of all those who have done this program. It really works, if you put yourself and your time into it. You are worth it!
in peace.
wishing you peace and calm,
Mary
