Hello Everyone,
I just had a thought about my anxiety. I was a 2 to 3 pack a day smoker & I quit cold turkey about 18 months ago. Could that have attributed to my anxiety? If so do any of you have any ideas of how or what a person can do to replace the smoking habit. God knows I don’t want to start smoking again.
Thanks,

quit smoking & anxiety
I dont know how to help you but I just wanted to say that I am currently trying to quit smoking. I'm chewing on a piece of gum right now to distract me from craving. I'm scared - and excited. Just remember how much more energy you have, how healthy you are. You dont need cigarettes because you're a better person without them.
I started smoking when I was 12 years old (because all my older cousins smoked). I continued to smoke until I was 24 years old. A friend dared me to quit. I handed him the carton of cigarettes, and did quit. That was as many years ago, but I remember tootsie roll pops. I used to carry them in my pockets. I eventually got so sick of those things, to this day, I cannot even look at a tootsie roll pop. We reduce sugar on this program, so perhaps sugarless candy? It worked for me.
Okay one more message and I will leave all alone, smoking was something that I could control, so I would stop and start when ever I wanted to, the last time was my longest but I gave it up 2 yrs ago. I have a friend that has been smoking since she was young and she is having a hard time even slowing down, I try to encourage her but I am not having much luck. I did not start smoking until i was in my 30's so it was easier for me that for others, try to think about smoking in a different light, when I would feel like I was smoking to much I would take control again and stop. I do not like anything having control of my body or my mind. Good luck have faith and keep going you are a winner.
ANGELS CAN FLY BECAUSE THEY TAKE THEMSELVES LIGHTLY
Thanks for all the advice pecos & Angeline. It also seems that I have gained around 20 pounds since I stopped smoking LOL. One step at a time I guess. Now that I have stopped smoking I will see if I have the same will power to stop eating LOL.
Angeline you said in your reply back & I quote “Okay one more message and I will leave all alone” Don’t stop posting if that’s what you were thinking. Anytime you reply back to someone you are helping people & never stop helping people, OK.

im 27 and i quit smoking 3 weeks ago. i did the breathe laser, i dont know if it is available where you are from, but i seem to have more anxiety now than i did before i quit.
however, the not smoking part is really easy for me, mostly due to the cessation program.
i can give you the hints they told me to help with everything.
1. drink an 8oz glass of orange juice with 1tsp of cream of tartar mixed in at least 2 times a day, 3 is best. I know it sounds gross, but its not that bad. what this does is works through your body and cleans out all the "bad" stuff, especially in your lungs where it will break up the tar deposits and flush them out of your body.
2. whenever you get a craving, suck on one of those vitamin c lozenges(?). i dont remember the significance of the vitamin c, but they said to have 2000mg per day until you dont have anymore cravings.

Hi BigErn,
I have no idea what breathe laser is. Not smoking is hard for me even though it’s going on two years. If I were to smoke even one I would be right back at it full tilt. Stopping smoking was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I was smoking 2 to 3 packs a day so I know my lungs are probably in bad shape. I’m 52 & going to be 53 in March & that will be my two year anniversary of not smoking. I stopped smoking at 11:59pm, one min before my birthday, that way it is easy to remember when I quit LOL. Thanks for the advice & I will give it a try.
