My name is brent and i've been suffering with GAD for pretty much my whole life. The last 2 yrs. i've been having panic attacks quite often. Took some medication for a bit but felt like a total zombie. I'm now trying to fight this thing on my own and as im sure everyone reading this knows it's very very tough. Waking up every morning with the tight chest intense worry panic feeling just cant cut it anymore. Im new to the site and hopeful that the program/talking to others will help me reach my goal of a life with no anxiety.
welcome to this site. I've dealt with this condition for over 28 years. I've also tried medication..It wasnt for me, so in desperation one night, I seen Lucindas infomercial and immediately ordered this program. It WILL help you, I PROMISE! It gives us the tools to cope with this thing. I've learned ALOT in the last two years and I believe God directed me to this forum. Good luck. Feel free to ask questions and seek friends here..we're all like family.
Good luck and God bless you

Hello all, I am a new member seeking for some help in dealing mainly with panic disorder as well as agorophobia. I have had this wonderful life changing(disease) for 16 wonderful years. Although medication can sometimes help, I find myself fighting my inner self constantly in trying to avoid a panic attack. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to write back
I have had panic/anxiety for alteast 10 years that i remember. My mom says she has seen signs since i was a child. Now 36. I also tried meds 5 or 6 different ones. and decided they were not for me also. Welcome rockinrollkid and mercyc. I started the program in March this year I think. Mercyc i think one of the more important things I learned was to not fight the panic attack to float thru it. I know it sounds hard but once you learn to ignore the thought that is bothering you and focus on something else its gets easier every time. So when you feel panic coming on get up and do something, talk to someone, watch TV, Read a book. just something to distract your mind from that thought.
Hi Brent! If there is anything I can relate to more it's panic attacks. I have been having them for a VERY long time, and if there's one thing I can say is most discouraging, it's that NO ONE understands what you're going through. You can't describe the feelings to people. You truly feel you are dying even if you know you aren't, and wish you could just crawl out of your own skin. I have, unfortunately, had to take Xanax and Klonopin to help me cope however I can tell you it's possible to learn to talk yourself through these things without medication. I know they bring a feeling of unreality, sometimes it helped me to talk to others to ground myself. I'm so new to the program that I'm not sure yet what coping mechanisms are in it, but relaxation and breathing techniques no matter how cheesy they may sound do work. You are not doomed to a life riddled with panic attacks. Keep talking, it will help you. Mine started at 16. Now at 30 I can nearly completely control them without medication. Don't give up! Life without them is amazing. The battle is truly worth it.
