I want to stop eating large amounts of sugar. The doctor told me I should lose 10 pounds.
Are there any success stories on giving up cake, ice cream and cookies?

Absolutely... I gave up sugar and starches, which turn to sugar, and lost 100 pounds! Yes, 100... not saying it was easy, but it can be done!!! I also went on a high complex carb and low fat in conjunction with ZERO sugar!

Good luck... and walk right past the bakery and ice cream coolers in the store! Eat natural sugars found in fruit!!! You will be surprised, you will come to love it! Try watermelon and cantelope!!!

I'm 3 days sugar free! A few days ago I read an article in the Washington Post Health section and something in me clicked. The author talked about processed food and detoxing our bodies. While her measures were extrme, I did get inspired by a few of her comments -- Wellness is a journey. We make our own choices in this journey. And if you do stray from the healthy choices, don't beat yourself up. You'll get another chance/choice.

I started every day with sugar loaded coffee and sweets. It's just a small step but I've decided not to eat sweets and gave up my 2 cups of morning coffee. So it's just day 3 but after attending 2 parties this weekend I realized how many sugar calories I avoided by not eating any desserts or cookies. It's clearly a choice and I think counting the days is making it fun. It helps me feel in control.

Also try not to bring the sugar foods into work or home. If you buy a sugar food buy the smallest size. Even if the family size is cheaper you're really not saving anything because you we should not be eating large amounts. And never be afraid to throw the sugars in the trash. We are in control!

I know it's not easy but I hope something clicks for you and I hope to continue to make better choices. good luck

Thanks guys.I hope to be sugar free. I only have to lose 10 to 15 pounds. Actually, 20 would be great.

I cut out most sugar to help with my anxiety. You may be pleasantly surprised at the emotional side effects!

Only thing is now I'm sort of afraid to eat sweets because I know it can set of blood sugar spikes and feelings of anxiety.

You make a good point. When I stayed off the sugar for a day (with the help of liquid chromium), I felt very good, almost peacefully happy.
