Hi Rene, Everyone reacts so differently to so many different medications. I for one, tried Prozac and Lexapro. The lexapro didn't do much of anything for me and the prozac made my anxiety so much worse that I couldn't stick it out. I tried for about 2 weeks, but it wasn't getting better. Then, my Doctor put me on Zoloft. I felt a little jittery the first week and thought oh no here I go again, but by the second week I felt okay. I've been on it about 7 weeks now and it is helping me very much. I am also on week 8 of the program now and the two (meds and program) are working well together for me. Believe me, I still have my days when I get caught up in my anxiety/panic, but with the meds and the skills I'm learning from the program these episodes are very short lived.

From experience and from hearing what other people go through, I would give the meds a few weeks and then if you're still overwhelmed speak to your Doctor and see about switching to something else. Sometimes it takes a few kinds before your body adjusts to the right one.

Good Luck!!

I started taking Cymbalta a little over a month ago. I noticed that my anxiety went up the first week or two, but I stuck it out and am functioning again. I still feel some depression. I go back next week to see the doc for a med check, but I'm going to stick it out on this med and see where it takes me. If your anxiety is up for too long while you're on it, then it might not be the right med or the right dosage for you. Work with your doctor and be patient. You'll find the right med for you. Good luck!
