If any one thing is sure to make me anxious its a lack of sleep or at least poor quality sleep do you find this?

We got a new bed yesterday and I just could not settle in it lastnight, I tossed and turned and eventually fell over but kept wakening, When I woke this morning as soon as I opened my eyes I felt anxious and it has lasted all day along with fatigue.

Hi Celeron:

Yes, this has been a huge issue for me however one thing that has helped me was in session 3 or 4 they state "just because you have a bad night doesnt mean you'll have a bad day, you can change how you feel minute by minute. It is easy to sabotage a whole day within the first few hours of that day" that makes sense to me! try not to self sabotage yourself- I bought a Quiet Mind the sayings of white eagle- $5 from Coles- and I read one each morning, this gets my day off on a positive note.. try something like that!

Best wishes!

I wrote in my journal just the other day that sleep deprivation can make even the sanest soul feel down and depressed. It's not the way it was meant to be- to forgo sleep. I'm right there with you on this issue.

Add me to that list. Because of tax season and all the stress it holds, I haven't been sleeping well for months. I feel so bummed lately and know if I could only get a good night's sleep, that would cure the whole thing.

Hang in there, I hope you adjust better to the new mattress.

Yes! Sleep is a huge component of anxiety. During sleep the body goes through a restores cells, etc. and it is mandatory for not only good health, but for less anxiety. If I don't sleep I'm a mess.

If you continue to have sleep problems, I'd recommend you speak with your doctor about it. Without good sleep, it's very difficult to recovery from and deal with anxiety.

Hi Celeron: I, like many others, have trouble sleeping - it seems to be a very common factor with stress and anxiety. I have learned, however, that just because I don't sleep well - I can still get through my day just fine on less sleep that I thought I could. I just tell myself - that's okay. So you're up again. Do some laundry, do your relaxation tape, think about what you want to make for dinner this weekend. It's amazing how much better I feel when I allow myself permission to be me - and that includes not sleeping well. We are all on a path and I just know we're all going to get to our divine destination.
"O God, you are my God. Earnestly I seek you;my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is BETTER than life,my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name, I will lift up my hands." Psalms 63

You definitely are not the only one! Insomnia and anxiety are so closely tied together for me, it is a "which came first, the chicken or the egg" kind of thing. I had two horrible nights sleep earlier this week, and my anxiety went through the roof. My heart rate was 100 for two whole days. There are good tips from the nice folks who responded to your post. Worrying about it, and over-reacting will make it worse.

Had a good nights sleep last night and feel much better. The thing I don't understand is how come my wife can be up the best part of the night with our 1 year old and shes not anxious the next day, a bit moody maybe but thats it

Lack of sleep is a main issue for me. I am lucky if I get 3 hours sleep and that is usually waking every hour. So when I get up I am already anxious.

I have not correlated the two issues. Being in a support role for my job I sometimes cover off tours and don't sleep right, but this might explain why from time to time my anxiety is worse at night than it is during the day.

Perhaps as fatigue sets in our minds become victims as well.

From what I have read I can see how a lack of sleep can cause one to be anxious.
