Hi guys im new here and i've been suffering from anxiety for a few years now.. Altho it happened a few years ago i did have a period where it was completely gone for like 5 or 6 months (That was fantastic) it's now crept it's ugly head back into my life and i just had a few questions..

My new issues are when i have anxiety (and only when i do) my heart will feel like it has to pound REALLY hard upon standing now i was wondering is this anything i should worry about? i've never came close to fainting for anything like that but it's quite scary.. another question is..
Mainly when my anxiety is beating down on me sometimes i'll get these like jolts in my chest that scare the ever living outta me and i recently went to the hospital for it.. is that anything? or just my brain messing with me?
And one more question..
Do any of you get the same thing as me.. Sometimes when i eat certain foods my heart will race for a while after like for me it's pizza,TacoBell(i found out today) and a few others.. anything to worry about or like ive been saying just anxiety messin with me? I know thats a lot to read but thanks a lot guys ive learned a lot here just from reading and you guys have made me feel at home and really anxiety free at times Thank you and God bless (one day we will all be anxiety free again Believe in that)

The beating heart you are describing after eating some foods may be MSGs. I find that happens to me if I have had too many. If you cut caffeine and sweets out of your system and keep an eye on the MSGs you may feel better.

Hi, Matthew Haf, I've had all the symptoms you describe with pounding heart, palpitations, and strange shooting pain and tightening. In my case it is all anxiety; I've had all the tests. Certain foods definitely trigger it, the MSG mentioned by LisaLisa is a culprit as are caffeine and sugar, big time. Really unhealthy meals can do this to me too. I do not know how old you are or your health status, but it cannot hurt to rule out medical causes also, just to be safe...whoops, am I venturing into hypochondriac territory? I apologize, but hey, if you know for sure, then you can't worry as much! Remember, tell yourself, it's only anxiety. It will pass. Good luck!
