Need help with vacation
SO me and my boyfriend are going to my parent's house in Rhode Island (we live in California) for a little more than a week in the first week of june. I have lived in california for about 3 years so Ive had several visits home. Well every time I go home I have all these expectations of how this is going to be "the perfect vacation, everyone is going to be happy to see me, my family is going to see how great I am and treat me great." well honestly it never worked out that way (except once). Im bringing my boyfriend home for the second time the first time he went with us I had a few meltdowns it was horrible. I just want this time to be better , not perfect. I want to keep my expectations low but also want my boyfriend to have fun. Im really excited but Im getting this growing feeling that Im going to try to micro manage everything do too much and be disappointed. Please give me any advice that could keep me from ruining my vacation with these high expectations. any advice would be great! Thanks!
Hi there
I've come to realize, that anytime I've imagined the way a situation would turn out, it never turned out the way I imagined, EVER. So try and clear your mind and go with the flow. As soon as you start having these expectations, make a conscience effort to stop them. Or, you could take the other route and have extremely low expectations. I've done this in certain circumstances and was pleasantly surprised how things turned out because I had such LOW expectations.
Good luck and have fun! Vacations should be enjoyed, even if they don't turn out exactly the way we imagined them. Enjoy it for what it is

"O God, you are my God. Earnestly I seek you;my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is BETTER than life,my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name, I will lift up my hands." Psalms 63
