Does doing laundry stress you out?
Maybe try doing one load a day instead of all of it in one day. A great source that I used in the past regarding housework and laundry, etc. is www.flylady.com. The lady who runs it used to suffer from severe depression and has some excellent tips on how to cope with housework, etc.

My mother-in-law seems to do laudry everyday and never seems stressed by it, like a routine, while my wife and I have piles of laudry from us, the kids, etc.
Then we finally get it washed and it takes us until we need to do laudry again to empty the baskets and then we start to stress about it.
Laudry stinks, but, if your going to smell fresh at work or where ever I suppose it is a evil necessity.
I can work from home and I try to do laundry, but I was much better when we had less, now it gets to over whelming proportions and if anyone is worse than me than getting it out of the laudry basket, it is my wife!

Yea it's stressing me today, like everything else tho. A few wks. ago the belt went on the washer so repairman was out, paid him for the new belt he installed. A week later again doing laundry it burned again so I went 2 wks. without a washer and yesterday a new front loader was delivered. My husband said it didn't seem like the right washer. The guys did have another one in and said they had the wrong one so took it out. What do I know. I only saw a picture and didn't really remember. Then I find out you can only use one kind of soap so I had to call hubby to get it at sears. Today I'm trying the washer and it's kinda scaring me. For one it's still going and seems much longer than my other one. I read the manual but it didn't explain that much. Didn't even say how much soap to use. The container said 3 oz. which when measuring in a meas. cup was almost a few capful. That's not less than I usually used. We paid a lot for this machine. I sure hope I'll understand it.
Also I'm very bad at putting the clothes away too. They end up wrinkled in the basket then I spray them and throw them in the dryer. BAD HABITS. I have many bad habits that bring on more anxiety, like now being here but the washing machine is still going and getting louder, thought they were supposed to be more quiet.
I can't believe I'm writing all this. When I first saw this topic this morning I kinda laughed and thought no, I'm not going to check it out. Well, here I am and causing myself more unnecessary stress. Oh when will we ever learn to stop being our own worst enemy.?

Barb, sorry, I started this thread not to stress you out of course. No worries. I have the front end loader, it takes some getting used to, but in the end they are so much better. Clothes are cleaner and so much less water on the bill--things like that. I think it would just be easier to have a full-time live in maid to take care of it all for you. I think the super rich may have anxiety, but if you could afford a staff wouldn't so much of the anxiety go away--that's the answer hire a Jeeves. For the posters in the land of the cold, I can't relate right now. I live in Palm Springs and we are pretty much warm all winter, but we deal with sand in the clothes constantly. It's a trade off.
I totally agree with Jweber on the front loader. You have to use the washing soap that has an "HE" on it - I use Wisk, but other brands have that logo on the fron too (it's for High Efficiency - so it makes less suds). They do seem to run longer, but the clothes are cleaner and it uses a lot less water. Plus I've found that they spin so much and so hard that it takes lots less time on the line or in the dryer to dry!
Here's to stress free laundry days!
