Before I had anxieties, I notice that my breath would naturally slow as I drifted off to sleep, usually I would let out a sigh.
Since becoming very anxious, and having anxiety attacks, I notice instead of the natural slowing of my breath, I will doze off, and it feels like I pause before I inhale again, which wakes me back up. It's almost like I hold my breath for a second or two.
I don't think it's sleep apnea, as it something that started with my night time anxities, I just feel it's one of the many ways my anxities are trying to get to me at night.
I've done some research, other people experience this, and it's usually associated with anxieties, and not life threatening, just annoying and can sure scare you! Last night I had it happen about 8 times before I fell asleep. I just kept telling myself it was alright, and once I feel asleep, I was fine.
Just wondered it anyone else experienced this with their anxieties.
Does this ever happen to you?
Hi, i have had that before it used to wake me up several time at night or i was hard to fall asleep. It was usually when my anxiety was high. Now is doesn't happen often in fact for a couple of weeks. Before i go to sleep i try to relax as much as possible but i usually fall asleep right away. Hope this helps. The only symptom that bothers me is the spaciness sometimes i walk like im floating or something and it makes me feel i cannot breath. Can you rely to that? Thanks, Dalma
