This is a followup poll to the "Highly Skilled Professionals with Anxiety Disorders" poll.
Now that you're recovering from your condition, have you made any plans to 'go for your dreams'?
I'm not recovered yet, but I'm much better than I was, and I have plans to finish my baccalaureate degree
and from there possibly go onto medical school. I would have never thought this possible before, but now
I'm in a very different place.
So, for those of us who are feeling like we can now tackle some or all of life's many difficult challenges,
who is going to go for your dreams, and how old are you now?
I have education in mind and it shows a little in the poll options, but your goals don't have to be education related.
Post what your goals are to elaborate on the poll.
I apoligize if I've missed anyone.
POLL - I'm recovering and want to tackle things I wasn't able to before
I think Lucinda explains anxiety and depression as a condition a lot like alcoholism. You can recover, but there is no cure. There are coping mechanisms that we use, that we learn, that help us move forward.
I hope that no one thinks they are "behind!" You are exactly where you are supposed to be. Take today and move forward. You can not change the past...so don't look there.
With the skills taught in this program, I have learned that I veer toward the negative in many situations. This is something I have to watch, especially when it comes to anticipation. These skills allow me to do things now that I didn't before, because now I know how to cope and soothe my nerves.
You (and all of us) despite age, race, or occupation have the power inside to go for and reach our dreams. Lucinda's program provides the ability to step through whatever fear we've had or have -- and go for it.
