Hi y'all!!

Does anyone other than me get head and ear pressure?? Please tell me. I've been getting this since summertime. I've been to the ER and had a CAT scan. They didn't see anything wrong. They say it sounds like a sinus infection.

They gave me antibiotics, pain meds, antihistamines, and sent me home.

The problem is that it happens mostly when I'm anxious. I don't think sinus infections work off of anxiety. Another thing, the antibiotics doesn't seem to help much.

The pressure makes my eyes hurt too. I'm just not functioning well like this.

This started shortly after 2 of my sisters died recently. I'm not sure if this has to do with anxiety, but it would really make me feel better to know if anyone has gone through this, or something similar. If so, what did you do to get rid of it? Your help is very much appreciated!!

Thanks guys!!

Hi deedee,

So sorry for your loss! I am sure that has been hard on you!
I get the ear pressure something terrible--especially as the day goes on. I am not sure if mine may be linked to TMJ?
It makes me feel terrible--dizzy and spacey.
I wish I knew how to get rid of it. Sometimes I use a nasal spray which helps. Sometimes I block my nose and blow hard which pops my ears. Sometimes I chew gum. Sometimes nothing works. I feel for you though--it's an awful feeling. Maybe the weather changes?? Good luck and let me know if you find a cure!

Hi labourg!

Thanks for those kind words! I'm just starting to come to terms with them dying. It's been very hard.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I can't use nasal spray, my blood pressure is a little high and they say the nasal spray will raise it. So they won't give it to me. And I have a feeing that it would help me a lot. :(

I don't hear of this very much on here. And it scares me so much, and stops me from doing anything. Aside from the pain and pressure, I keep thinking that if I go out alone like this I may faint and someone might rob or kill me. :? seriously! :(

I'm glad you have some things that helps you sometimes. Cause this is nothing fun. I use to be anxious about being lightheaded, but I don't even care about that anymore since going through this.

Hi deedee...I'm so sorry for all that you've been through. I don't have any great advice- just wanted you to know that I have this pressure you are talking about ALL THE TIME! My doctor insists that sinus problems are not caused by anxiety but I really have wondered about that, too. Maybe the anxiety just makes it seem worse? I don't know. I have had no luck with nasal spray but I use a spray called, "Simply Saline", and it helps sometimes. (It makes me sneeze and relieves the pressure.) My brother has this also, and he uses a neti(SP?) pot. I tried it one time and when I blew my nose, water shot out of my eye, so now I am afraid of it! Sorry this is not much help but you are not alone.

Hi Deedee00,
I think this is caused by "inner ear problems"...

Every single time, the doctor checks my ears, he says I have fluid in behind my ear drums!!!

I do think this type of thing increases one's anxiety with leaps and bounds, especially if they are unaware of what is going on!!!

I googled this same thing once, and I found out that inner ear problems and anxiety go hand in hand!!!

I can tell when my "inner ear" thing is acting up, so I just tell myself, that it is "no big deal" since, I just am not ready to have tubes placed in my ears!!! LOL!!!

I was told by a very wise lady, to place my head down between my knees and the fluid would drain!!! This has helped me tremendously, and I do this, when I am experiencing those symptoms!!!

I pray this helped you in some odd way!!! Have a beautiful day filled with much sunshine, joy and laughter!!!

It's unbelievable to me to hear that so many other people have the same pressure issues that I've dealt with for several years. The only way I can explain it is to say that I'm always in a fishbowl, foggy and my eyes feel as though they may pop out. I've been treated for allergies with pills and flonase and I've seen an ENT specialist as well. NOTHING! I hate to appear to be a hypochondriac by looking for an answer to this pressure in my head but there has to be answer somewhere, right? Or, now hearing all of your comments, is this associated with my anxiety?

BTW: I am very sorry about the loss of your sisters!!! That must have been "extremely" difficult thing to deal with!!! I am sure that added "big time" to your anxiety!!!

Again, I offer my deepest empathy to you!!! May God Richly Bless You Today and Always is My Prayer for you!!!

I am SO sorry for your loss! I hope you find support and strength here amongst us!

I have the SAME thing! I was having it terribly when I'd wake up in the morning and I was starting this whole anxiety crap.

I did end up getting a cold and sinus infection and had antibiotics and I don't seem to have it as bad anymore but I am still convinced it's caused by some sort of neck/head/jaw tension.

Take care!

Hey Squiffsmom,
These symptoms could be caused by a number of "anxiety" related issues including...

Stress
Tension Headache
Migraine

It could also be due to sinus problems!!! There is a thing called "painless" migraines, and I had them for years!!!

The main thing is to get your anxiety level down and these symptoms should disappear!!! Mine sure did!!!

I pray this helped you to understand what is probably going on with you!!!
