Hi :)

As the topic title says, as someone who really loves the relaxation tape, I was wondering - is it possible to overuse this tape? such as, maybe use it so much that it provides no real benefit anymore because you become 'used' to it - or something like that?

Yes.

I got way too use to it. I have the old program. I used the relaxation tape so much that I would say it "word for word" with Lucinda, when I was supposed to be relaxing.

What I did was, I bought the new relaxation tape and used that for a while, then I went back to the old one. It worked.

I guess you have to get a variety and switch it up.

Border's, beck's, and other bookstores have large selections of relaxation tapes. Even libraries will loan them out to you.

I found that after repeated use over a long time it seemed to lose it's effectiveness on me. I had to use other tapes for a while and then go back to it. I have several now, and this happens with all of them if I use the same one over and over. Maybe our mind stops listening after a while and needs a change or a break. I really do love the one with this program.

Any progressive muscle relaxation tape/CD is good, but I look for the ones that says " NOT subliminal". I'm just scary when it comes to anything messing with my mind. LOL

But thats just me. haha!

Like what everybody else says, you can use it to the point where you get bored of it. If you can keep focused on what to do during the relaxation cd then I wouldn't say you're at the point where you could call "overuse". If you're becoming less and less focused on it and your random thoughts take you away from it more and more then ya i think that's the time to change or switch it up.

I like to use it as well as other ones..sometimes one after the other. It's almost like a reward to listen to something more desired after listening to the relaxation cd for the 100000X. This works for me and i've been using the program on and off for about 5 years.
