Jason -
I'm so sorry to hear you have lost hope. Before I give you my thoughts, can you answer a few questions for me?
1) Where are you in the program (what week)?
2) What successes have you had?
3) What risks are you taking and how often?
4) What specifically has lead you to the conclusion that the program doesn't work?
Please bear with me. I don't want to see you give up.
Be well,
Jamie

First, I'm glad that you listed a few of your successes, even if you don't sound sure of yourself. I'm sure there are even more that you're not recognizing. It's so easy for us to see the negative and overlook the positive.
Second, I think the reason the program isn't working for you is your response to my third question. If you don't take any risks, you'll never get any rewards. The only way to take control of our anxiety is to face our fears. I know how hard it is, but I keep forcing myself to do it. And after many long months, I'm starting to see some progress now. I've wanted to give up many times, but I've gotten enough encouragement to keep trying. I hope that I can be that encouragement to you.
You've got to work on desensitizing yourself to what makes you nervous. For example, let's say it's going to the store. Break the task into small pieces and conquer each one progressively. First it might be driving halfway to the store. Then it might be driving to the parking lot of the store. The next step could be walking from the car to the front door of the store and back, and so on. With each step, you have to repeat it over and over (some say as much as 30 to 60 times) until you get comfortable enough to move on to the next step. As a bonus, as you start to overcome you fears, it tends to get easier to conquer the next. But you won't get anywhere if you don't try.
You deserve to have a rich and fulfilling life. Don't let it slip by while you watch from the window of your bedroom. I realize how hard it is to find the motivation and the strength. But do you really want to live the rest of your life from the confines of your home?
Lastly, I'm on Week 7 of the program and only now am I start to see some results. You're still early on in the program and there is much still to be learned. Please don't give up yet. Please don't waste anymore of your life in this pain.

Jason,
I pray. I can tell your angry by the statement above. When I pray, it's not for me alone but for others as well that are suffering worse than I am. This is what makes prayer so difficult cause there are so many things to pray for; who really knows who is getting the blessing from the prayers we say, but somebody is. I have been having trouble praying because I get scary thoughts of someone coming after me to kill me (bad visions) So I hold off on prayer and do things like this, writing to you. I am taking away from my prayer time, but like I said I'm scared. At the same time, I'm disgusted that I'm on this computer and not on my knees. I'm home alone and it is the perfect time to get some prayers in, but here I am writing to you and your so angry this is not even really going to help you. I stopped the program cause I just couldn't listen too it, I would feel guilty to take time away from prayer to listen to sessions on emotions. The point is you probably do pray and have faith, but sometimes alot of things are standing in the way of trusting in GOD and saying prayer with meaning. Try some different prayers. It is hard for me to make any suggestions cause I really don't know your thoughts on religion, the bible or anything. Don't let your anger get in the way of your prayer, just like I'm going to try not to let my scary thoughts get in the way of mine. Prayer is good. I'm sorry the program isn't working for you. I intend to continue when I feel less guilty and I don't know when that will be, so it's not doing it for me either at this time

I saw you mention Sprint and working for them. Is that through Alpine? I was wondering how that was working out? Anywhoo sorry you are feeling overwhelmed lately. I hope and pray
that you see things turning around for the good.I like to look for miracles in the little things. Those little things that seem to mean nothing to anyone else and alot to me. Like being able to close and lock the bathroom door here at home. Crazy huh? Anyway hang in there friend and take good care.Oh and congrats on doing school soon too. Very good stuff.

Jason I just want to let you know that it's normal to have peaks and valleys doing this program. You will have challenges and triumphs - this is not out of the ordinary.
Just today, I forgot how comfortable I was getting going to the dentist, I took my son to the podiatrist and I had the automatic anxious reaction as I was getting ready to leave the house.
A lot of it is just memory. That's how our brains work, on memory, and when we go through the motions that trigger anxiety it's automatic.
What is important is to BE PREPARED.
So, I had forgotten that doctors and dentists make me anxious, cause I got used to going to MINE. But I was taking my son in to see someone and that automatic response came to me, momentarily.
So this is what I did. I remembered what I had to do! I had the tools that Lucinda teaches and used them. And I was perfectly fine.
Just don't forget to go through those 6 steps. That's the most important thing here, those 6 steps you learned in Session 2. They will help you.
Would you be willing to do a challenge? Face one of your challenges to try those 6 steps?
Maybe, if like Searunner suggested, you went to the store, at a time of day that's not very busy, like maybe on a Wednesday afternoon or a Sunday morning, or a Saturday night, and take those 6 steps on a test run.
When that wave of anxiety comes, start the self-talk - "it's only anxiety, it will pass" - do the breathing - then start thinking of something else (look at your shopping list) - let the wave flow over you - and when it does...."bye-bye sucka!"
You can even laugh at it as it leaves..."is that all you got, anxiety? You want another piece of me?" I love doing that to it.
I know you can do this - you are an awesome human being capable of so many things, you just need to unlock that door.
Great things are ahead of you! I know this Jason.
There are just a couple of tough hurdles, but trust me when I tell you it will get easier with practice and a little time.

Gman, I am well aware of Derek Prince and his teachings. At this point I would ask that you discontinue posting replies to any of my posts. I thank you for your cooperation in this matter. My prayer life is between me and God and I will not have a discussion about it here.
Jillz, yes, that is where the job came from. All I am waiting on now is the background check to go through and I will be starting soon.
I apologize for my anger in my earlier posts, but I do not take kindly to having my spiritual life impuned or questioned. That is a very private and personal matter that I take very seriously and I do not wear my faith on my sleeve.
