I have been getting bad heart burn over the last few months. It is getting me freaked out. It seems to happen more after drinking or eatinig late at night but it has woke me up in the middle of the night lately and it is scaring me more and more. I am wondering if it is getting my anxiety going and if they go hand in hand

Hi aruba, I know that I have acid reflux with hiatal hernia and it can make you feel anxious. Try to eat dinner early and stay away from greasy foods. Probably all the stuff you already know! But I do believe from my personal experience that acid reflux can worsen anxiety. Tums helps and so does Apple Cider Vinegar in water with dinner!! Honest!!

I also have acid reflux. I get it in the throat . It's called LPR. Thankfully it's well tamed by Nexium but I have had many instances when I was anxious and/or stressed and the LPR was acting up. I also recall my ENT telling me about reflux can be set off by anxiety/stress.

I also have acid reflux, no caffeine this includes tea, coffee, colas, hot chocolate and chocolate. Also, no carbonated beverages and eat dinner early and do not over eat, it takes 20 minutes for our stomachs to know we have eaten too much.Try elevating the head of your bed 3 or 4 inches, this alone can make a huge difference. If you can afford to have an upper Gastrointestinal scan you may opt to ask your Doctor for one.

Anyone that has heartburn, should be checked for,H-Pylori bacteria. ask your family doctor about it. All they do is stick your finger and get a drop or two of blood, and he will give you the results before you leave. That bacteria can be serious. It can cause heartburn, stomach ulcers, and stomach cancer. I had it at one time. It is hard to get rid of because it is highly antibiotic resistant. so if anyone finds out they have it and the doctor can't get rid of it, let me know. I know how to get rid of it!!!!
