Anyone feel like this?
I'm a 14 year old female. I've been struggling with anxiety all my life. Over the summer it got much worse, I didn't want to go anywhere or do anything. I was depressed for 3 weeks luckily I managed to pull myself out of that. My question is, has anyone ever had the thought of hurting themselves or close friend. I don't have the feeling of wanting too but that the opportunity is there. Back in July I took some sinus medicine that made me feel insane and that thought popped up, ever since then it just wont go away. I really don't want to do anything, but I'm scared I will. Have you ever felt like this? If so, then how did you get over it? I do see a counselor and she says its really common in teens who have anxiety, just please help me get through this.
Yes, sweetheart.
That is a very common symptom of anxiety. You won't hurt yourself or anybody. You don't have to believe everything you think. It's not true.
It's just all of the stress and anxiety. Sometimes, we subconsciously don't want to deal with the real problems, so our minds distracts us by creating disturbing thoughts. It works too. You find yourself thinking of nothing but those strange thoughts.
When you get those thoughts, DONT try to fight them. Don't react to them. Just know that you won't do anything dangerous. Because you won't!
Pretend you're not afraid of them. When you realize the thoughts are only lies, and you're no longer afraid of them, they will go away.
They thrive on your fear of them.
Take care. Send me a message if you need to talk.

deedee00 said it really well. It can be hard but the best thing you can do with those thoughts is to mildly acknowledge them (not fight them, as that only makes them stronger) and then purposefully choose to think of something else. If that doesn't work, do something. Clean the house, sing a song, call a friend and talk about another subject. Just don't give them any room.
