Hi April!

I know what you mean about feeling out of place. I have a lot of trouble making friends, too; at least, making the kind of close friends that I can call on the phone just to chat or hang out with on a fairly regular basis. I'm just too shy to initiate that kind of social interaction. It makes me feel a little left out at work (even though I know it's my own fault), because my co-workers--who are wonderful, amazing people--socialize with each other fairly frequently, and I'm almost never involved. It's something that I'm working on, though. I know that no one is going to realize that I want to be involved if I don't say anything, and I'm trying to "come out of my shell" more. It sounds like you're doing the same thing in the chat rooms. Good for you! I've never used the chat rooms, but if I ever do, I will certainly say hi to you! :) It can be intimidating, especially for those of us with anxiety and depression, to be involved in a conversation. Keep trying! I promise that there is nothing wrong with you as a person.

Have a great night!

I have been in the chat rooms a couple of times and I know what you are talking about. I think it is because most of the people in there kind of know each other from being in the rooms a lot. A new person has to jump in.....but it is one place where you can talk about your situation and they will understand.

AprilT
I have always been knid of a shy person, and I have difficulty in social situations in conversations.I was and am one of those people that need a few drinks to get into the mood.I know that sounds bad,but it is the truth.Writing and expressing myself on this forum has helped.I do not see a therapist, and am trying not too,but ther are some people that do suggest it.Like I said expressing myself on here has helped me,so the way I look at it with you expressing yourself is helping, and important.Keep your chin up.Everyone has a place in life.everyone os there own unique person there is only one of you. That is an old adage but true.Feel Better :) :)
