I am a student who just quit my job to focus more on my studies. This is my 5th year in college and because of my anxiety I only took one or two classes a semester for my first two years of college, and I had a job so needless to say I have a lot to catch up on. Im looking at two more years ugh! I have to take a full 15 to 18 credits a semester just to graduate in two years and I do get bad anxiety just being at school. I am taking a pilates class to give me some credits but not to dump me in a load of work, but doin an exercise class away from my comfort of home is making me even more anxious. I just want to be done with school so my fiance and I can get married and I can get on with a career but it aggravates me its taking so long. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks

Hi Anna

You have a very full plate for sure. I am
curious ,are you working on the Attacking
Anxiety program? I am on week 7 and am
doing better. Taking it one day at a time
one hour at a time sometimes but its worth it.
So are you!

I can sympathize with your post. I finally graduated from community college in May with an A.A. after six years. It took so long because I was working full time and sometimes could only take one or two classes a semester, or would drop classes because work took precedence. I quit working a year ago to focus on my studies and just go to school full time, and boy did it help! It is so much easier getting through school without the stress of a job looming over you. It helped me achieve my goal of finally transferring to a four-year university.

I would suggest only taking 12 units, 15 max, your first semester. You don't want to overwhelm yourself. I know you want to get done as soon as possible, but don't stress yourself trying to achieve that goal. You can take summer or winter classes too (if your school offers them). I think the whole "graduate in four years" thing is unrealistic for most folks nowadays. So don't be too hard on yourself for taking longer than you think you should.

Hope that helps!
