Any teachers on here?
I am also a teacher (high school English). God bless you both for having the patience to teach the little ones! Regardless of academic level and/or subject, I think education is one of the most stressful occupations. In fact, I KNOW it's a DIRECT contributor to my anxiety. Consequently, this may be my final year (I've taught for 13 years). Next year I'm going on sabbatical to earn a Master's, but I'm really looking at changing career paths; I'm planning to study Art History/Gallary Mgt.
This has been a very difficult decision because I know I've been blessed to teach, but my heart simply isn't in it anymore. I LOVE my content area but can't deal with the daily "busy work." Also, I'm excited but very nervous and scared (naturally anxious) about going back to school.
There are two really good posts on the forums- one about managing paperwork and the other about time. Not suprisingly, there are A LOT of teachers in this program.

I'm glad I found this group of posts. I teach 4th grade, and I'd love to talk with other teachers on this program. Even though it can be stressful, I think it is my job that actually keeps me sane. Oh sure, sometimes it's very frustrating. I guess I just feel so comfortable being a teacher that my anxiety doesn't affect me when I'm at school.
Sometimes I do feel overwhelmed with all I need to get done. To be honest, I sort of avoid thinking about my anxiety issues by being a workaholic. I guess that's why I have a crate full of papers at home with me on spring break. I better take a look at those posts about managing time and paperwork.

Wow! It's comforting to know that there are other teachers out there with this. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one. I know teaching can be stressful sometimes, but I love it with all my heart. Actually, my anxiety has just came back about a week ago. I didn't have many problems with it for two years.
Ali,
I am a third grade teacher in Ohio. We are three weeks away from Achievement testing. So naturally, I am wigging out! This is a stressful time for us. Also, I am literacy coach in my building which puts me into some stressful situations with adults. I love working with children, but it's the colleagues that make this job difficult.
