Okay, I haven't been back to this forum for nearly one year....it was then that I moved out and started the divorce process and my life seemed to get better. I didn't have these 'skipped beats' that I have been tested for anymore. Now, they've come back...not bad, but back...and I hate them. I don't drink caffeine anymore, no drugs, no medication, no smoking...so why? could it be purely stress? I went to the doctor today. Not my usual doctor, but she saw my records and noticed that it had been two years since my last event recorder monitor for my heart...and now she scared me more! Anyone else have skipped beats? I would love to hear all stories. Thanks for listening.

I have had the skipped beat problem for about 22 years now. I have had all the tests...more than once mind you...and they tell me that it is just something that everyone has on occasion but some of us have it more and can feel it more than most. I certainly am one of those who has them often and can feel it every time and I have to say, on some days when it's really bad, it drives me half crazy with worry! Even though I have been told time and time again that it isn't something that is going to hurt me, there is always that little doubt in the back of my mind that says this is not normal to have these this much and one of these days my heart is just going to forget how to get back into a normal rhythm and I'll keel over dead! But then again, I have to stop and tell myself that if it were going to kill me, certainly after 22 years of it, it would have done it by now I would think.

Stress certainly contributes to bringing them on, but I also have GERD and when that is bad or if I have an upset stomach, I always have the skipped beats a lot. I suppose all of that could be traced back to anxiety/stress because when those things are bothering me, I get stressed out and when I am stressed out, I get the skipped beats. It's a vicious cycle that is enough to drive a person nutty sometimes!

I'm not sure if any of this has helped you or not, but just know that you are not alone and I can certainly sympathize with you as I know how scary and annoying they can be.

Good luck and just relax...I think we're gonna be fine. :)

Yes Sandy, it has helped me so much what you have said. Thank you so much for helping me. I think what bothered me most about today was this doctor's attitude. Instead of saying 'oh you will be fine'...she says 'lets check to see if it got worse' and for some reason those words really struck me the wrong way. I would never wish these feelings on anyone, but I am so glad that you can relate to me...it means so much to me....thank you for responding. Take care and hopefully we will be talking again very soon! :)
