Tension On One Side of Body
I've noticed recently that I experience a lot more tension on the right side of my back, shoulder, neck and face. I'm right handed, maybe that has something to do with it. The problem is that it sneaks up on me and I don't even realize that I'm tensing up until my muscles feel like they're strung shut.
Does anyone else notice their tension as being more to one side than the other?

Oh my GOODNESS!!! I've been having my left sided symptoms for a couple hours now... I have them all the time and all I think of is a brain tumor! Mine is in my face, neck, arm, and even leg... I believe due to a car accident 6 years ago I tend to carry stress on my left side.. I'm right handed but do most of my heavy lifting with my left arm... You are not alone, and I can't tell you how much your message assured ME that I'm not dealing with this goofy symptom on my own... Do you have it off and on, different days, hours.. whenever?? Talk soon, Tysmom
I have been having pain in my right shoulder and back area for quite some time. Had 4 different MRIs and all was normal. Since starting this program I realize that it's all stress and anxiety causing my physical problems. have been doing much better but have had a rather stressful morning and my shoulder is killing me. So you are not alone...I am trying to learn how to relax my body more. Please share suggestions!
Tysmom and ahs1, thank you for your responses!
Yes, brain tumor is exactly was exactly my thought to, though it moved onto other stupid things, as anxiety tends to jump from one to another. I have these symptoms on and off. I notice them more when I think about them and sometimes I get them and I'm like...wait, was I just thinking about it? or no? I also have a weird symptom where when I swallow hard or burp I get a bit of pain on the right side of my throat, which radiates to the ear. Again, it happens more on stressful days. Oh and today I went to the dentist who said that the clicking in my right jaw is TMJ and that I grind my teeth at night, especially more on the right side. I got a plastic night guard and a bunch of fillings. My doctor says it's all anxiety and has put me on Buspar to get it under control. So yeah, all of this can be caused by stress and it's pretty much all on my right side. How crazy is that?!
Tysmom, have you heard of EFT? Some people think that we store our emotional pain physically, especially after traumatic events - i.e. your car accident. It's a simple, painfree technique that you can try at home and it might help your arm pain. Check it out www.emofree.com

Oh what a relief to hear other people mention this! I have had this crzay symptom off and on for the last three years. It never has gotten any worse..just comes and goes. Usually my left more than my right. It typically starts in my shoulder, radiates up into my face, and then into my leg. Scares the you know what out of me---still!! I try to convince myself that I know it is only muscle tension. I too have the brain tumor fears. Thank you for sharing!!
Labourg, yes, it is all anxiety. Honestly, after 3 years of being okay you can be more than certain that it IS anxiety. I'm trying my hardest to keep my mind positive, without focusing my thoughts too much inward.
I hope you are doing the program and working on it too. I'm sure you will feel better.

Oh goodness this is a relief to come across this post! I have had this heavy weird tingling sensation and weird feelings in my LEFT side of my body and I too have jumped to BRAIN TUMOR! I get pain in my left leg, the left side of my head and base of neck, and sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night I feel as if I cannot move the left side of my body(and sometimes during the day) and then I think that I might be having a stroke. Thank you all for posting on this topic!
Justaguy, Thanks so much for the website... No, I've never heard of anything like that... Right now I'm feeling horrible and can's stop shaking inside so I thought I'd check in... I'll check it out...
I need to get back on the program.. When things don't seem to be working for me I won't do it, but I have to finish what I started...
Hoping you're feeling better as well! This all really STINKS!!!!
