Hey all..its been a long long while since I posted on here.
I am having a bit of a set back :-(
I gave birth last week wednesday to my beautiful daughter carmella!! I was induced because of preclempsia(HIgh blood pressure and swelling)
My blood pressure reading were hanging out around 180/100...yuckkkk...so they had to induce.

I was in the hospital from tuesday until saturday where they monited me even after I gave birth to check my BP...Well with all these hormons raging through my body..ANXIETY REARED ITS UGLY HEAD!!!! My bp kept creeping up and up and up..and the nurse freaked me out and said OMG thats high (it was 150/90) so to me that wads much better than what it was lol.
So she freaked out and that didnt help and for that friday and saturday I had a never ending PIT in my belly, and anxious adrenaline PIT!!! I was FREAKING OUT!! My BP readingds stayed arounf 140/88 the rest of the time so they put me on BP medication

Well now I am completely OBSESSED with taking my BP I want to take it all day. All I do is sit and think about it. I went to the doctor yesterday and it was still high like 160/88 and I know it was high bc I have TERRIBLE white coat syndrome NOW from that stupid nurse!!The doctor said I am at stroke level...mind you I am 26...not overweight..healthy. SO SHE FREAKED ME OUT MORE!! Because heart attacks and strokes are my TRIGGER!!!!

Ithink about it so much I have lost my appetite, and i am anxious and shaky. Im so lost because I have a newbown to take care of and I feel like I cannot control myself. I am scareed and feel hopeless. The doc said it takes up to two months for PreClemp to go away completely after birth. and I know my white coat symdrome and high anxiety are not helping...

I took my blood pressure this morning and it was 138/88..which Im still scared because im on bp medicine and Im scared if I panic enough I will have a sezuire. I dont know why my anxiety is coming back and im SO SCARED...
Any advice or anything would definetly help...please :-(

Congratulations on your baby girl. I do so remember mine years ago. Give her a gentle kiss from me.

BP has been my nemesis, runs in my family, so I understand your concern. Remember, you are young so you are far less likely to have any serious consequences. Take the readings when you think you are likely to get good readings. Take several readings. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Good readings are very encouraging. BP fluctuates a great deal. As long as you get some good readings, be reassured. Avoid salt, salty foods, drink plenty of water. Maybe you can find time to meditate, or do Tai Chi, more calming than yoga.

Relax with your sweet baby.

Tina, Hugs and Prayers to you and your family! I know what you mean about freaking out on the BP thing. But, I am an old lady, who has completed this program and now I am slipping back again due to the doctor's scaring the heck out of me. My anxiety takes my BP up big time and like you I am checking it daily , both arms, blah blah blah......you know what I mean.

I can only say to you, put that BP cup away for a day or two and just hug that new baby to pieces. Think happy thoughts and oh yes, drink a lot of water. At my age, too much water means less sleep.
You can not win. I am about to buy those adult pampers.........I think they call them depends, if my BP does not settle down so I can stop drinking that water.

Seriously, my dear, this is no joking matter and I make light of it now because I know how you feel.
I can not tell you how to relax because I am not doing too well myself, but if it makes you feel any better, I do know how you are feeling. I may be old, but I am still alive and kicking and want to fight this anxiety thing again, so I am going to begin with Lesson One again. Do you have the relaxation CD? That does help me..........maybe you should use it. God Bless and Good luck.

DMP...wow I know that must be tough. I've never had a baby or high blood pressure, but I do have Mitral Valve Prolapse and sometimes my heart date is astronomical at rest. It went higher than 130 beats per minute at rest once. And I became freaked out and preoccupied with my heart. But if you are on blood pressure medication and it is temporary, you really shouldn't worry. I think you'll be just fine. The body is incredible in its ability to heal! You won't just get a stroke. You're so young and the medication will help until it passes. Did your doctor recommend exercise? One thing you just have to try is what I've been doing for the last two days...Dr. Weil's audiobook on how guided imagery can help you one, calm down and two, heal your body. It is soo great. They explain a lot in the beginning even giving examples of how this little kid could control his body temperature by willing it and they also mention an experiment where patients were able to minimize blood loss during surgery by willing it. The mind can do awesome things for the body when calm. Give it a shot. I'm doing it every day and feeling so so good. It's called Self-Healing With Guided Imagery: How to Use the Power of Your Mind to Heal Your Body. I'll be that would work great for blood pressure!
If you can do nothing else, keep thinking positive thoughts and of positive images. :-D

I must apologize, I previously posted to Tina when in fact I meant to speak to DMP. I could give you several reasons why I made that error but let us just say I had a senior moment. Please forgive me. I meant well.

Barndog, I found it on iTunes, but I'm sure you can find it on Amazon.com as well. I love it. I've been doing his meditation everyday now. Awesome. So much like this program.
