I have always had weird thoughts even as a child. I remember when I was younger and went to the bathroom I was scared to lock the door because I thought, "what if I pass out and nobody can get in to help me?" Or sometimes if I have a drink or something in my car and I go into the store, I wont drink the drink when I come back because I think that someone could have gotten into my car and poisoned it or something. Sometimes not alot, if I go through the drive through at mcdonalds I will examine my food, 1 time I saw this small black spot on my hamburger and I didnt eat it because of that. I just have all these weird irrational thoughts that normal people wouldnt think twice about, Do you all have weird thoughts? Am I just major paranoid or what????

Angela,
These are called scary thoughts, they are not some awful psychiatric condition. Most of us with anxiety have them - sometimes constantly all day long, or sometimes once in a while. what you need to do is tell yourself that it is only thoughts, just thoughts and float with it. Talk to yourself postively even if it feels like you don't believe it. I also answered your PM if you want to check that as well. Hope this helps a little.

You sound about as normal as most people. Most people don't actually worry too much about thoughts like these, but everyone has them, to some degree or other. I was having lunch with a cousin (who is a 30+ year detective in a large city). She is very "normal". She saw a dark piece of seasoning on her plate, became obsessive about it, and would not eat another bite. I was hungry, and I finished her food. At the time, I could care less what the dark spot was. However, I have done the same thing in other situations. Weird thoughts happen to all of us. Sometimes they seem more scary than weird. This program will help you put these thoughts in a healthy perspective. Kind regards.

A lot of it has to do with how much attachment we give to the thoughts. The more attachment we give to them the more they freak us out. I don't think I would even admit to some of the strange thoughts I have sometimes. lol I dismiss them as irrelevant, and sometimes even get myself to laugh over the bizarre things that pop into my mind. The less emotional charge you give to these thoughts, the less they will effect you.
