I can't get going when I get up. If I don't use a stimulant I will sit on the couch and watch TV for hours until I do take something to make my body go.
I have hypoglycemia, hypothyroid and ADD, not to mention depression and I take meds for thyroid and ADD.
Has anyone ever gone through "detox" from stimulants with this level of lethargy?
If so, how long did it take you and how did it go?

I was horribly lethargic and it drove me nuts. I am a high energy, active person so to go from that to feeling complete apathy about everything was rotten for me. :? I was confused and annoyed and hated myself for it.

I started taking Effexor when I hit rock bottom with the condition and that helped me to work through the lethargy. It also helped that I set VERY SMALL goals for myself each day, shared them with my husband (then, boyfriend) and together we got me going. I also built in 'lazy breaks' into each day to give myself the rest I needed - I made sure I didn't beat myself up over needing those breaks and I used them.

I learned a lot from my husband. He's amazingly balanced. If we're working on the house on the weekend (we renovate), he sets goals of what he wants to do that day, but if he doesn't get it all done, he's just as satisfied as if he had. It's like something I've never seen or experienced and I get so much out of watching him and learning how he thinks. It has rubbed off on me. So, if we're working and decide to take a break, we sit on the couch and sometimes we have a nap. Sometimes we go back to work, sometimes we don't.

Now that I'm weaning off the Effexor (I'm almost completely off), I don't struggle with it anymore - taking the course has really helped me. Just set very small goals for yourself and if you don't reach them all in one day THAT'S OKAY! Praise yourself for whatever you do!

For a time, if I didn't have a cup of green tea each day, I didn't have enough oomph to get through the day (I am SUPER sensitive to caffeine and the bit in green tea was enough). It took a few weeks to get off it. I also have hypoglycemia and learned to make sure I keep eating well and regularly. I carry healthy snack bars in my purse - they are a coconut bar with natural ingredients, so lots of protein and I don't start to get the shakes or weirdness.

If I do forget to take care of myself (I had a hypolglycemic fit just the other night), I eat, rest, wait and take care of myself. I remind myself that no matter what I had planned it can wait until I'm feeling like myself again.

Okay, so long answer! Sorry! I hope the post helps! ;)

Motivation comes from doing. I did feel a bit lazy when I gave up caffeine but how did I cure it? When I felt lazy I went for a walk or a run and it gives you more energy believe it or not, try it.
