How does one manage this disorder when all their self esteem is sapped. Right now I am on tape 4 but in a black hole of depression. it is unbearable. i know it will start affecting my sleep.

I think there are no easy answers and no quick fixes, but if you just continue to work the program one day at a time the depression will lift over time. If the depression begins to interfere with your life to the point that you are not functioning well, you may want to talk with your doctor.

I wish you the perseverence you need for this time.

When I was in my 'black hole' last year I journaled every day before bed on the positive things I either saw, behaved like, or did that day. They might have been very minor but somehow it eventually made me look for the good instead of the bad in my day. This journaling was basically a pat on my back which slowly increased my self-esteem to 'see the light'. Remember, it will get better.....one small step at a time.

I agree with the idea of journaling. I've been keeping a spiral notebook with me all day and really, anytime I have a bad moment or a revelation, I write it down. USE it. APPLY yourself to it. Write down when you're feeling down. Write down the things that are happening in your day. Write down the lessons you may have learned or the times when the light bulb in your head turns on. This is a great tool.
I've had depression in the past and taken lexapro, which did help at the time. Maybe you need a pill if you're not already taking something. It does lighten the mood, but you really need to get to the root of your depression and try to fix some of the old behaviors that might be causing it or fueling it.
Get out in the sun. Drink more water. Take a long walk. Listen to positive music. Cry and release that stress. Pray to that higher power and ask for forgiveness and a new strength. Whatever it takes to get your mind out of the dark closet it's in.
You will get better. You have to. You've been to the bottom and now you have to go up. Become the person you want to be, slowly, day by day.
