P&P and Paisley.....OMG yes, isnt it crazy...I remember getting a new job as a nurse on a floor and you got someone standing next to you and then after that they disappeared...."oh, its a good time to have a cigarette break, shes here" I was petrified!!! I thought....Is this all the training I am getting??? That was years ago in the 90s. And when i trained for a little crappy job that I adored....I had a week or more!!!!
Paisley, I too, helped my Mom around the house when I was younger, in fact for some reason I always felt sorry for her just toiling and doing everything herself. She gave me my room, the living room and the bathroom I think to do and I didnt mind at all, it made me feel useful as a kid and productive.
They are making jobs more stressful. Nothing is simplified, its only magnified and multiplied.
Its funny, with all our technology you think we would have the Life of Reilly.....not so. Its complicated our lives even moreso.

Creamcheese--I wonder if it is because of greed...in some cases. Or just our mindset. Technology is so good for many purposes. It helps heal the sick and makes things more convenient. Most people have a high interest in many things and our learning is insatiable. (Hoped I spelled that right!) I know for me is that I love to learn about many things and do lots of things. I learn to create, grow plants, critters and people.
I'm curious and very interested in life and history. So I want to see and do everything!
But my body won't let me or there are financial constraints. Then comes the frustration and one's introspection of what is really important in the amount of time I have left on earth.
So that is probably why we all are here, is that were trying to figure out, how to live in the most productive and yet peaceful way. Because something in the past that we were doing isn't working or has changed. And now we have to change if we want to feel better than we have been. Since we are use to microwave ovens and computers sending messages before we even proof read them, is our problem.
The human mind and body cannot change that quickly, thus we become humble and learn patience or any other lesson needed to be learned. Basically we are wanting Heaven in a dark and chaotic world.

This is a wonderful discussion about work, bosses, technology. The verdict of how technology affects us as human beings will take time. I am old and old fashioned and like much about the Internet. On the other hand, I have refused to get hooked into all other gadgets.
Technology has eliminated many jobs and brought new opportunities. I agree it seems to have made work hours longer, not shorter. People simply have to put in more time to keep up with everything. E-mail also, it seems to me, is a double edged deal. The Internet can be as addictive as other addictions contributing to stress, anxiety, etc.
I am so thankful that I was able to raise my children before any of this existed. We went to the libary; that was enough.

Yes, computers are addicting. I stay away from other gadgets as well. And sometimes I wonder about all the texting. It was bad enough to hear our business line ring, now I hear DH's cell phone constantly pinging for texting, and it is mainly my DD doing it since she is the person getting our business calls. Then she text DH to tell him who called.

It will bode well for programs like the one offered here as people are likely to experience more stress and anxiety caused to some degree by the near perpetual assault on our attention span, our ability to be with ourself, think for ourself. In business, of course, we must keep up with the times, but personally we have choices although it is tough to take a stand. Some will say to me, "What, no cell phone?" "No, I don't have one." Don't intend to get one either.
